  1. Don't know about other countries, but here in Finland it's available through a number of content providers such as Buumi and Kieku.net (they also sell UFO: Aftershock Mobile). If the phone has some kind of virtual keyboard for Java apps and you're able to pass the initial screen orientation test, I guess it should work. However, after doing some experimenting with PSPKVM, it seems that the game simply refuses to work on any phone that has a screen wider than 240 pixels, which probably rules out the majority of current touch phones. With PSPKVM it's easy to get around this problem by just changing the emulated screen size, but I don't know if a feature like this exist on any real mobile phone.
  2. I recently watched Angry Joe's UFO: Extraterrestrials review and found something very interesting from the comments section. In addition to the UFO: Afterlight PC game, there also exists another version for mobile phones. Official homepage I wasn't able to get the game run on my Nokia 5230. After the loading screen, the game just freezed with a message "The game doesn't support landscape mode. Please only use portrait mode." http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/5530/ufoalonpsp.th.jpg However, I was able to run it on my PSP with the help of PSP-KVM but only after turning the sounds off. The strategic portion of the game seems rather simplistic. You can choose which mission you play next, equip your soldiers and occassionally make some simple plot related decisions. The tactical portion, however, is quite fun. Intead of Simultaneous Action System, the mobile version uses a more traditional turn-based approach which reminds me of the early Shining Force games on Sega Genesis. Also, the enemies seem to actually use cover this time instead of mindlessly charging you, so camping is not nearly as effective strategy as it was on the PC version.
  3. Myrmecol bug is a bug where the game fails to generate the mission pins on the Myrmecol map screen making it impossible to continue further. Here are the instructions on how to use the repair kit: http://forum.altargames.com//index.php?s=&...ost&p=61636
  4. Latest news from ufo-aftershock.com: A physical copy of the aforementioned comic was originally included in UFO: Aftershock Collector's Edition. A PDF version was also included in the DVD version of UFO Trilogy collection. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/b476/piibii/ufoas_comic.jpg
  5. A gift that just keeps on giving Nice work once again, Okim!
  6. I tend to save every funny image I happen to come across (animated or not). Most of my gifs are from PoE's LiveJournal Random Images Generator forum.

  8. I don't know about the boxed version, but the download version of UFO Trilogy is available at SprocketIdea. However, I'm not sure if that version includes all the bonus features from the regular boxed version. Might be a good idea to ask them about that before purchasing.
  9. If you're having problems with Starforce or are just tired of having to put the DVD in every time you want to play the game, here's some good news for you. ALTAR just recently released a patch that removes the DRM from the game. Download UFO: Aftershock patch 1.2.1 here: http://www.1cpublishing.eu/game/ufo-aftershock/downloads
  10. There is an Aftershock comic included in the bonus features of UFO Trilogy pack. I don't know if it's the full comic though (it says "preview" in the file name).
  11. Hmm... now that I think of it I remember having similar problems with Afterlight when I was still using a GeForce 6600 GT graphics card. The game became incredibly slow every time I came across a map that contained those large two-story Beastman buildings. The only way to make the game playable was turning shaders completely off. I then upgraded to Radeon HD 3850 which has enough horse-power to run Afterlight smoothly with all settings maxed.
  12. Sorry, it's not possible to change the resolution in Aftershock. The GUI scaling in Afterlight really sucks. The game only looks crisp on 1280x960 and 1280x1024 resolutions and using anything else will cause severe blurriness, gaps in UI graphics, missing outlines for buttons and other anomalies.
