  1. I'm now in July of my Superhuman level game and have to say, maintaining good month scores and high income is much easier than when playing easier levels. Last month I scored a 7900 and I now have over 24 million in funds at this time. Hardest problem is getting Zrbite at the moment, what a pain! I have 6 bases around the world wiht transmission resolvers and things are going well. I basically just need a lobsterman commander and navigator so progress on researching so I can get the latest flying sub and I should be good to go. One strange thing is that I have no yet any terror sites show up in about 5 months now. And I'm still getting some aquatoid missions, in July! Go figure.
  2. I'm only in March and find everytihng a cakewalk so far. I've probably lost on average one aquanaut per mission. And that's usually the cannon fodder guy who's stats suck so bad I don't care. I've taken a new strategy on missions and thats use grenades like crazy. I've done FAR LESS re-loading this time due to using a different combat strategy. I've had 2 terror missions, 1 port, 1 island, both were a breeze. So far I haven't fought anyhitng except gillman, aquatoids, and deep ones. I'm hoping my bases get attacked SOON cuz I need a calcinite corpse before lobsters show up.
  3. Is it just me, or is playing superhuman easier? Let me explain why. 1. More ships flying around = more money 2. More aliens with each ship/mission = more money 3. More equipment from each ship/mission = more money 4. More aliens = more kills = better stats Anyone else ever think about this? I'm playing superhuman now and just kicking some serious tail.
  4. Sometimes early in the games it's possible to follow the large ships around with a barracuda and your triton without attacking it, and waiting for it to land instead, then landing the triton over the top of it and having your fun blasting aliens. Otherwise it's usually a whole lot of reloads.
  5. This has happened to me a few times... It's funny. I'm playing TFTD and am really engrossed in a particular battle, trying my best not to get any of my solider killed. My whole house is quiet and as I move a soldier out from cover, WHAM, a Sonic Cannon shot from some hidden alien flies right past my soldiers head. When the audio is turned up kinda loud, along with the creepy music, it has, at times, caused me to jump in my chair, haha. Kinda funny, thought I'd share.
  6. I'd like to know where to get this. The music in TFTD always creeps me out.
  7. Anyone ever notice that sometimes when you start missions, the Triton doors are already open and cannot be closed? IIRC, this is ALWAYS the case on level 5 gameplay, but levels 1-4 allow the doors to be opened and closed. Sometimes it seems like they get stuck or something though and wont close in between turns even when the ship wasn't HIT with a grenade. Wondering if this happens to anyone else. Its not common obviously, but has happened on rare occasion.
  8. Also, I will not shoot down any small ships with a "alien colony expansion" mission. Doing so seems to prevent the colony from getting built. Personally, I prefer they get built so I can take them out.
  9. One thing I found out last night. If a small ship comes around for a floating base attack, 2 things can and always will hapen. 1. You shoot it down - You don't see a very large ship coming later with the same mission (attacking your base). 2. You don't shoot it down - You will see a very large ship coming later with the same mission (attacking your base). It will be the same alien race too. I kinda learned that trying to get aquatoids to attack my main base so I could get a calcinite corpse researched.
  10. Above all, I hate it when I get a soldier with a boatload of kills and sweet stats and then find out he's susceptible to mind controlling, argh. I don't bother sending my guys through MC labs to find out who has a weak mind, I prefer taking them out on a Tasoth or Aquatoid mission and finding out first hand. That way I can kill the person immediately. It's bad for my score, sure, but, the gratification I get from whacking my own dude in the back of the head with a shot from a Sonic Cannon can't be beat.
  11. Well I finally got Calcinites. Aquatoid's attacked my base in July and with it came Calcinites. Now I can finally do H2H. woot!
  12. Heh... so, what about those of us who start the game without any editing utilities?
  13. The last game I played I focused heavily on Scientists, having 150 as quickly as possible to research sonic weaponry for my men AND my ships (to shoot down large ships). I spent almost NO $ (I have 10 techs for the 150 scientists) on manufacturing. This game, I'm spending a good deal of money on manufactuing. I now have 75 techs and 75 scientists. I've found that this sure seems to be a better way to play from the start since I have SO much more $ now from selling off all the particle dist. sensors I've been making, it's a good income for now. Wondering what other people do.. focus on science or manufacturing first?
  14. I was under the impression that researching a medic does not give you the actual bonus of the research from that alien race. In otherwords, researching a gill men medic and he tells you about calcinite does not give you the ability to research a vibro blade. I am NOT 100% sure on this, but 90% sure.
