  1. Hey guys, I'm a long-time player of the X-COM games (managed to comple UFO Defence/Enemy Unknown, Interceptor, Apocalypse and almost completed TFTD) but it seems Windows7 has ended my dream of completing every one. I recently started playing X-COM 1 on my friends Vista PC, which worked fine and gave me a taste for more again. The problem is, I'm running Win7, (AMD phenom 2 X4 925 2.8GHz, Nvidia Geforce 8800GT, 4GB RAM) and Xcomutil 9.7 is getting me SOOOOO close to running X-COM again, but it has 2 problems that ultimately render it unplayable. Firstly, Scroll speed and fire speed in the battlescape view is ridiculously fast, its imposibble to know where shots are coming from, or even if someone has been shot. The scroll speed generally makes it impossible to play the game as you would like. The second flaw is that initially, the graphics appear to work perfectly (OMG YES!!!) but then after about a minute or two in game everything goes very messed up, and maybe the colours invert? (i cant really tell, it really wierd) and you can't see much after this point . Anyone now a solution to these problems? Ooooh and btw, BladeFireLight, you should be knighted for enabling mankind to fight back again, Good work
  2. i get the same problem, but with the pirate base and with alien probes and jammers. we need help
  3. if you read the story to genesis (somwhere on last oupost) you'll see how much the story kicks arse... if they were to use the same story and make a game as awesome, intense and addictive as the first, but more complex and cool than apocalypse im sure it'd be a gaming revolution. the stuff of legend
  4. well maybe the game should be made on windows only for now and when we make some progress we can think of making it compatible for macs etc.
  5. lets get on the ball now. a team name and someone with good persuasive skills and a lot of time on thier hands for our representive. we need to get practicle now. and we really need to get a QUALITY demo not rushed to give atari a nudge in the right direction. we also need to sort out a permanent communication stream instead of emialing things to each other at random. maybe all development once every month would be collected by one person and all compiled into our demo. so far what system specs does our thing need? and does it use a certain graphics engine. lets start thinking seriously and start being a proper DEVELOPMENT TEAM.
  6. well i have looked into it and i think atari have no plans whatsoever of reviving the x-com series. however, i think when it comes to thier attention that fans want x-com so much that we make our own version, atari will open thier eyes and acknowledge the demand. at worst they will negotiate a deal where the project will be handed over to them or we will conform to changing it so no legal issues remain. but atari WILL eventually notice but how they deal with the situation could be in our benifit or destroy the main aim of our project, to produce an authentic x-com game. so i think before we let it come to that, in the late stages of the game making process, we should take it upon ourselves to contact atari before they contact us.
  7. so how do u lot work then, do u create files and send them to each other or is there a place you meet when actually developing the game?
  8. well i think without the hyphon it SHOULD be legal. does any 1 use msn cause it would b easy for me to contact through msn. my adi is foxhound525@tiscali.co.uk
  9. oh kk i seen da web site bout the project. sounds great. i think wot ure doin is fantastic and if the veteran could involve me i would b hounored.i cant belive this is actually being done !!! i have been waiting for years!! but the work and the hard bits still need to be done. so its all legal bout the name xcom? and u didnt have to buy it from atari did u??
  10. ok forgot bout dat age thing. does dis mean it will be spears and stuf?? and im currently learnin how to use doga l1 abnd 2. wot the veterans adi?
  11. oh and by da way wit da alien version of dat sectopod to make it look defined and alien the skin could be bio organic. (for those not farmiliar with the term dats machine and organism itergrated into each other)
  12. hi im chris and i have been rooting around for years trying to find people to start producing a new x-com game. i had no idea about this project and am massivly overjoyed to hear were finnaly doin wot needs to be done. i must ask you include a few things in the new x-com game. first i think that the whole world agrees with me when they say dont rush it to get it out soon, like microprose did with apocalypse but take time to make an extremely deep intense story. i must ask for thier to be some of the things they failed to put in on apocalypse. not as a first priority but at some point i think it would be useful to have a human interrogation and holdin cell in the base. this could be used to capture corrupt leaders who lets say, may have something to do with y the aliens are so interested in earth. i think it would be useful to introduce. i also think there should be a wider difficulty variation. to this day i have all the x-com games exept enforcer, and the only one i could ever complete was intercepter despite the fact i really have tried to complete the others different difficulty settings would be nice. i also ask 4 a way 2 counter mind control and that troops arent so easy to kill. but most of all i say a very deep intriuging story line would be most important. i wish you all good luck and if there is any way i can help procedures (and i mean litteraly any thing!) i would be hounered to do it. write bak soon from chris
