  1. Yer I never know what his is talking about either
  2. I have a serious suggestion to sort the Ron vs Roon situation: Celeb boxing!!!
  3. You found it without me then, thats cool!
  4. Is there actually a manual for the game, i never got one! If so, could someone point this out to me?
  5. Ok, try this out: Get a decent ship, most likely the avenger, and equip with best everything (shields etc) Enter a battle, with anything bar a phantasm (or a freighter, base etc, for obvious reasons!) target an enemy, and fly straight at it, full pelt, afterburners et al! Don't shoot it, otherwise it usually flies away from you. Hit it straight on, and see what happens! Usually, you loose your front shield, thats all, but the pilot of the alien ship often dies, or the ship gets destroyed. Never had so much fun!!!
  6. Agreed. Lightnings are great for long range missions and scouting, as they can out-run a fleet that is after you! I keep 2 of these for this, 3 Avengers for bombing bases and the likes, and the final mission obviously! I then have 4 Firestars for general combat. I outload all these ships with: Enveloping fusion missiles, sometimes permiter missiles. Phase cannons x 2 (or x 4, depending on how accurate i am feeling!) an 2 tractor-tracer cannons Best shields, engines, sensors, armour, adv ECM, Cloke (*and if i have space, the repair thingy). I end up ramming the smaller ships and kill the pilot, for fun!!!
  7. Tried it and couldn't survive long! I am interested to know why no one could load it onto XP, I have recently re-bought the game and works fine!
  8. That would be handy.. nice one! Always happens to me, just when I have a good haul of live aliens and the likes. Is usually a skelatiod who flies up to the roof of the ship where i can't reach him...
  9. I might just jump in here and mention that the majority of the aliens in Apoc, according to the story, were engineered for specific purposes, most likely to attack earth. So a popper (the little buggers) are designed to run fast and die, whereas the anthrapod is a more humanoid alien to do more 'human' like tasks. each is deisgned for a purpose and hense there are a lot of different 'designs' Well that is what i think anyways!
  10. Yer that does my head in, also when you get aliens, particually hyperworms just sitting in toilets, parden the wording! an hour i spent on that once... grrrr
  11. Try that on veteran or above, you'll end up very severly damaged, especially later on in the game. On the easier difficulties, its pheasable, but lets say Phatasms are one of the hardest thing you'll come across in any X-Com game at Superhuman level. Give me a rifle against a superhuman muton any time Hi I am new to this forum, so though I would jump straight in! I had this game years ago, and have only just recently re-got it and got it going again on XP, and boy I love it again! On this subject, my tactic is to fire once i am in range, at the same speed as the rest of me ships, and as a am about to pass it, unload a tonne of missiles and fly on past, switching the incoming fire/ missiles to me back for a bit. Let the others handle themselves and then swing around for another go, if it is still alive that is! Works every time for me
