  1. I started playing on an old saved game a few days ago (CE), but I can't remember what difficulty it is set to. Is there any way I can check?
  2. I'm going to buy the Steam version in a few days (when I get my new comp), I have SB Audigy 2 (which I will be using on my new comp as well) and I've never had any trouble with the sound in the regular TFTD. I use Synth A. So I'll let you know if I have any trouble with the Steam version once I get it.
  3. I find soldiers with low MC strength very useful for assaulting aliens with no MC abilities. And in case the base containing the MC weaklings is attacked, I just unarm all the weaklings, arm the stronger ones with weapons and disrupters and send out tanks to find the aliens.
  4. Yeah, that explains it. I think I used a proximity grenade in the mission before, but it never detonated. Thanks again! I must say, this forum is about the most helpful one I've ever visited!
  5. Thanks! Another strange thing just happened. I landed on a small UFO crash site, and moved my first soldier out (1 square). On the first square of the ramp, something (?) blew up and killed two soldiers and severely wounded 3 others. I checked the surroundings but I didn't find any aliens in vicinity. What could have caused that?
  6. I just finished my first terror mission ever in which there were no civilians... I thought that the terror sites always are crowded with civilians, hunted by the aliens. I think I've been through almost 100 terror missions in the past, but I've never encountered a civilian-free one. Besides, there were only 12 aliens (approx. 7 Snakemen and 5 Chryssalids), and 2 buildings (civ. houses). Is that normal? I'm sorry if there already is a topic about this, but searches are almost useless.

    Music

I like John Broomhall most of all. His music has taught me a lot and has definitely changed my picture of music. I suppose most of you already know, but he's the composer in X-Com and Transport Tycoon. I never grow tired of the TT-tracks, and they fit so well into the game. Rob Hubbard is also worth mentioning. Jogeir Liljedahl Maktone Moby Röyksopp Kraftwerk Timbuktu Cracktro's in general.
  8. They seem right. I run ufo on a 2.8 gHz and have no problems seeing the weapon hits if I select the slowest fire speed option.
  9. Metal Gear (Solid) X-Com 1&2 Transport Tycoon Some of the Castlevanias Jagged Alliance Tetris Just to mention some of them
  10. I see... But I read on another x-com page that commanders only lurked in bases. I`ve never let any alien ships live, never even very large, and stunned all the aliens inside, but the highest ranked alien is leader. If I detect a scout, shall I just let it go? I also read, that nomatter how high difficulty I choose, it would reset to Beginner if I saved. It seems true, as the game was no harder on Superhuman.
  11. Is there any requirement for encountering an alien base? I`ve played for about six months after researching the alien leader, but I haven`t found any bases yet. I need the commanders there. This hasn`t been any problem in my previous games, but this time I wonder if I have done anything wrong?
