  1. There's a trailer for it on Gametrailers.com now, check it out.
  2. The server is Starchat (irc.starchat.net) and the channel is #xcas. The sims are usually at 8 pm CET (European mainland time), which is 7 pm GMT, 2 pm EST, 11 am PST, and so on. And welcome back to the sim again Stax, good to see you again. As for you Xzarr, I think DH probably already spoke to you about the recruitment thingy, but I'll recap it quickly. The site is currently down, so the recruitment page and everything is as well. DH would be your main contact for XCAS related stuff, though you can ask me too if you need to know anything (MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, I've got it all and I believe all my contact info is in my profile).
  3. <<Joint roleplay, starring DragonHawk as LCpl. Ko and Ghost as Cpl. Stone and Lt. Ghost>> SETTING - Ghost, Stone, and Ko are chatting over dinner on the 29th of December, the day they left the hospitality of the NAO. The mess hall of the Peregrine is noisy as always; Kevin and Raven are partying it up with the Ascidian teams, trying to best them in some sort of competition that remains incomprehensible to the three other human operatives. LCpl. Ko> ::Ko chugged down the rest of his drink, washing down the food he had eaten in his usual fast-barbaric style. He had a habit of inhaling food quickly... A result of training.:: Another day, another meal. We should have meals like this on ground ops. <Cpl. Stone> ::still having at least half a plate in front of her, she continues to eat, Ko's eating habits no longer surprising her as much as it did the first time she saw him eat:: Well, I'm sure we could, if you want to be the kitchen princess, as well as bring along all the ingredients. *I* sure as hell aren't going to be cooking any fancy stuff down there for the lot of you. <Lt. Ghost> ::also not having finished his plate yet, Ghost only has a little left on his, he shakes his head in amusement about Ko's quick eating once again. He may not be the best drinker, but nobody beats him in eating it seems:: Ko as a kitchen maid? Nah, I wouldnt want to see him prancing around in an apron, thank you very much. And I doubt we'll really need his services that very soon either, if things go well. It'll probably still take a little while until we go on another ground op. <LCpl. Ko> ::Ko's eyes grew wide in mock offense as he looked from Stone to Ghost.:: How dare you suggest something so foul. I do not 'prance'. I happen to be quite agile; I 'float'. ::Ko laughed and returned his face to its normal posture.:: At any rate, ground ops are tricky, especially since we don't want to get trapped on the ground on Omicron. However, we could probably evade the Aliens on Omicron if we had to. In space, a bit less so unless we had a head start. <Lt. Ghost> ::Dmitri nods:: Yes, it is a lot harder to hide in space than on the surface of a planet, although maneuvrability is a lot higher in space, and probably to initiate conversation with the sectoids down there we'll need to utilize both space and ground. After all, we'll need the broadcasting ability of a space ship, but to actually get to talk to one of them we will probably have to go down there. <Cpl. Stone> ::Kaitlin smirked still about the comment regarding Ko in an apron, a scary thought indeed. She noticed she actually looked forward to the next ground op. She may have been trained to be a pilot, but the captain of the Peregrine wouldnt let her fly his ship, so she felt a bit useless up here:: <LCpl. Ko> True that, true that. Once a more formal contact starts, we will want to be face-to-face with the enemy. Hopefully this commander, this Raalik Tizt, respects that. What sort of person do you suppose he is? He's not the same as other Sectoid's we've encountered, that's for sure. <Lt. Ghost> Hmmm, well he is certainly different. For starters, besides Osiris he is the first Sectoid we have encountered to actually try to communicate rather than just shoot at us... well at the people from Alpha anyway. ::Dmitri shakes his head:: I dont know what he wants, but I do know that he is most certainly not like the other sectoids we encountered, which means we should exercise caution. <Cpl. Stone> ::nodding in agreement, Stone listens and speaks up when Dmitri finishes:: Yes, that's true, we should. Let's not forget what the people from Alpha who were interrogated by him told us. He seemed to be quite fervently looking for us, and that must have had a reason somehow. Why would he want us? What would they gain by seeking out specific targets. <LCpl. Ko> I don't know. He knows about our actions on Yurilis though; not Patton/Cyriacus incident but the supply cache one, and it seems that the Aliens are uhh... a bit pissed off. At least that shows we had some impact, no? ::Ko grinned widely, then continued.:: As to our actual value, could it be so simple as removing us from the war? <Cpl. Stone> Hmmm ::Kaitlin looks thoughtfully:: I dont know, but it seems like an awful lot of effort just to get rid of a single group. It is a completely different tactics than they have used before. I wonder why... maybe their supreme commander had a change of heart? Or maybe there is a new one? Hell we dont even know if they *have* a supreme commander and where he could possibly be. <Lt. Ghost> ::at the last comment by Kaitlin, Dmitri frowns slightly:: That's true, though that's what we're trying to find out by contacting Raalik. Maybe he can tell us more about that, although he will probably not just tell that for nothing. We should also discuss what we are willing to give as a counter offer to them in exchange for the information. <LCpl. Ko> Good point. I have no idea. What could we have of possible value to them? Maybe they love us for our lack of xenophobic attitude? ::Ko chuckled to himself as he thought about some sort of weird universal love amongst Aliens, but he subdued that.:: Maybe he wants a hit-team. Lord knows the Aliens don't have troops as skilled as we are. <Cpl. Stone> ::laughs and shoves aside her plate, now empty and flexes mockingly:: Yes of course they don't. I'm not letting those little bug-eyes beat me. But yeah, the mindset of their troops doesnt quite work like ours it seems, although now they have demonstrated that not all are just mindless combat drones, by revealing Raalik. We dont know what else they might have in store. <Lt. Ghost> True as that might be ::grinning slightly at Kaitlin's mockery:: we haven't seen any evidence of it, and he may be our only lead, so we'll need to be careful. We should take care not to have him realize he is our only path to the information at current, or he might just drive up the price. <LCpl. Ko> I suspect he knows it. ::Ko leaned forward and put his elbows on the table.:: He's obviously got some training in human history as well, possibly psychology. He'll be looking to use that to his advantage... I wonder though, how much different from a sectoid drone it could be. I mean, without the Cydonia brain, the Aliens in AW-1 were less than effective. They needed that Brain. This one doesn't though, and poses a lot of unknowns. <Lt. Ghost> You think he knows hmm? ::Ghost nods thoughtfully, it might be, it'll take some getting used to that the sectoids really might be smarter and more perceptive if they want:: It is a risk indeed, we dont know what he wants, what he knows, and what he wants for it in return. Nor do we know whether we can trust him when we do manage to open up a channel of communications with him. <Cpl. Stone> You've got a point, though psychology and all those things were never really a forté of mine. I doubt I'll be of that much help during the initial phases of the negotiations probably, so if you guys don't mind, I'll be off to the training hall to work off the pounds gained at the christmas party, and prepare for whatever might come. ::with that, she picks up her plate, and gets up, walking towards the exit and putting the plate at the designated place for that, before walking out of the mess hall:: <LCpl. Ko> ::Ko nodded at Stone as she left the table, and then to Ghost.:: Perhaps I should be off too. Gralintus says we should be making sure our weapons are compatible with the atmosphere... he's worried that some of the seals will get destroyed in the atmosphere. You need me for anything else today? <Lt. Ghost> ::nods at Stone as she leaves:: Have fun ::Then turning back to Ko:: No, not really. Not yet anyway, I'll need to go see the captain about our ETA and how we'll proceed once we get there. <LCpl. Ko> Sounds like a plan. I'll look at getting our ground gear ready, just in case. ::Ko stood and picked up his tray.:: See you tomorrow, bright and early, for PT. <Lt. Ghost> ::gets up and picks up his own tray:: Yeah you will, have a good one, and see you tomorrow.
  4. <<Joint post CPL_Stone (by Ghost) and PVT_Rallwell (by DragonHawk)>> Somewhere at Arkunis IV, Kappa mission training location, 14th of November 2067 Rallwell sat with a number of Ascidian officers, observing the combat. She could see Kappa and Rho teams exiting the mock warehouse now. It looked like they were discussing their forced entry... The whole situation made her uneasy though. Kaitlin was discussing the tactics of their building entry with one of the Rho troopers, who was moving a bit too visible and audible to her tastes. He was going to get himself shot that way. After a minute or so the discussion ended and she walked over to the observation area. Approaching the observation spot where the Ascidian officers and Rallwell were sitting she took off her helmet and smiled at Rallwell. "Hey Anne, came to watch us?" Rallwell grinned back, relieved to see her and not some other hairy Ascidian. "Yes. I'm curious to see how you're planning on breaking the XCR..." Rallwell frowned slightly. "I'm just worried about you, that's all." Stone raises an eyebrow as she puts her helmet on a nearby table, and sits down on a free chair near Rallwell. "Worried about me? Oh there's no need for that. I can handle myself quite well, really. 'sides, I'm not alone, we watch eachother's backs, though I must say I was a bit worried when I heard of Alpha team's 'capture' by these XCR people." "Not about you, per se..." Rallwell tried to form her thoughts into words. "The risks are a lot higher, this time." That was underestimating her real view of the threat, but she couldn't just go ballistic on Stone. "It's just... I don't like the risks. Why? There has to be another way." "There has to be another way for what? To resolve this without fighting? I'd wish, but at the moment the stance of those XCR troopers is that they can defeat anything we could throw at them, so most likely their demands would be insane. Believe me, despite appearance I'd rather not fight these people either. But if we do not break their superiority, we will basically have to live in fear not to upset them." Kaitlin looks at Rallwell while saying that, a look in her eyes saying, 'And I'm not going to accept having to live in fear every day again. I'd rather die fighting.' "I suppose so. But they're allies now, or supposed to be now, but you're right. We can't sit around, I guess." She looked over to where the rest of the team was chatting. "So how are the plans looking so far?" Shaking her head slightly, "Not allies yet, they have just agreed to cease attacking in order for negotiations to be possible as I understand it." Turning her head to a group of Rho team operatives that were discussing matters over a map a few metres away. "Slowly, but steadily. The main problem is that we dont know their exact strength and abilities. We dont know if our weapons will be sufficient to beat them..." "I can't help you there. I've run my materials analysis, and I'm not certain of the strength either. They must have weaknesses; if they don't we'll have some troubles matching them power on power." Rallwell's eyes swept over the warehouse again. "Is this the size of the nuclear facility, or is it just a training structure?" Turning towards the warehouse, she shakes her head slightly. "It's not entirely the size of a nuclear facility, but it matches the size and rough layout of the main portion of the building. The reactor areas aren't added yet though." Rallwell nodded quietly. "Do you think you can beat them?" That was Rallwell's biggest worry. XCR hadn't been defeated yet and showed little sign of that possibility. The possibility that this was just a suicide mission was something that tugged on Rallwell's mind since she first heard of it. Stone remained silent a moment, looking at the warehouse still and then turned towards Rallwell. "Yes we will. They are not invulnerable, there has to be a way to defeat them and we'll find it. Besides, it's not our objective to kill them all, we want to show them defeat, it's not a murder or massacre operation. We will deal as much damage as we can though." Rallwell looked at Stone. She looked serious, confident... Hallmarks of the people Ghost had chosen to represent X-Com in the Ascidian forces. It was something to admire. "I hope this is the case. A lot is riding on what we do now." Getting up from her seat and taking her helmet with one hand, she put a hand on Rallwell's shoulder, "Hey, not so glum, have a little faith. Dmitri, Derrick, Kevin, even Calvin, they know quite well what they are doing. Do you think they would be so foolish to just run headlong into a fight they know they cannot win? I need to head off again, we're doing another run. I'll probably see you again before our real op though, and otherwise afterwards." Stone smiles reassuringly at Rallwell before putting her helmet back on and walking off. Stone's words were reassuring, in their way. Rallwell nodded a brief salute to Stone and another to the rest of the team. "Good luck," she whispered.
  5. Everyone? Nah I would hardly say that. For the people that are really leaving I believe it was only Loonie and Ion Mage (though I may have missed one or two). From what I see, most that joined XCGS are either not affiliated with XCAS, or will be doing both.
  6. UGS Patton II, 13 November 2067 Colonel Brad Cyriacus was just working in his office on some reports from Ascidia about a research project he had been working on with the Ascidians. It seems the project was finished and currently being shipped to Arkunis IV. Then Scott's message came in. Surprised to hear from the Lieutenant, Cyriacus opened the message and read it. His eyes widened, and he frowned. He read the message again, as well as the comment added by Sinclaire, regarding the verification of Scott's identity and that in all likelyhood he also broadcasted this message without being forced to. "Why would these unknown X-Com forces allow such a message to be sent from their craft... perhaps they are friends, but I doubt that in a day they'd already trust the team so much to let them broadcast unmonitored... I wonder what these unknowns have in store, and what their story is. Not to mention why they attacked the Ascidians... friends don't generally blow the bases of other friends apart... I wonder what they want from us..." With these thoughts Cyriacus shut down his computer terminal and got up from his chair, and went out of his office towards the command center. "I wonder if these new X-Com forces are a blessing or a curse..." he thought to himself out loud. XCS Peregrine, 13 November 2067, an hour or so after Rallwell's transmission. Having just finished a meeting with Vash'uda'rus, Dmitri was walking through the corridors of the Peregrine, heading towards his quarters to get some sleep. After all, he'd better get all sleep he could before they reached NAO and would start on their operation. When he reached the door to his quarters, and was about to enter the door code, an Ascidian approached him. "Excuse me, Lieutenant, we have just received a communication from the UGS Patton II which was addressed to you and the members of Kappa team." The Ascidian handed Dmitri a note with a transcript of the message Scott sent out. Dmitri looked at it a moment and then looked at the Ascidian with a somewhat surprised look on his face. "Did they confirm this message was indeed sent by Scott, and not some kind of forgery?" "According to Private Rallwell, who sent this message, they have used all software at their disposal and as far as they can tell it is really Lieutenant Joseph Scott that sent this transmission, and his voice doesn't suggest he is stressed in the sense that he is forced to send this." Dmitri nodded and remained silent a moment overthinking things, before replying to the Ascidian. "How long before we reach Arkunis IV?" The Ascidian seemed to have something proud about him, as if he was pleased to be able to answer the unexpected. "Actually, we are entering orbit within an hour, we are approaching from the other side of the planet from Nova Alpha Omega base, so quite possibly they haven't noticed our approach yet. The UGS Patton II also seems to be orbiting the planet already, though probably most people have already disembarked to the base." Dmitri nodded and indeed seemed faintly impressed by the quick trip, though obviously he wasn't an expert in spacecraft, and as such had no idea what this craft was capable of anyway. "Okay, in that case I'm heading towards the communications center. Thank you for relaying the message..." He looks at the Ascidian's name tag a moment, and translates it for himself "...ensign." A few minutes later, in the Comms center. Dmitri sat down at one of the communications consoles, after the Ascidian set it up to send a message down to NAO. "Nova Alpha Omega base, this is the XCS Peregrine. Good morning Anne. Kappa team responding to the damsel in distress. We are currently entering orbit, and probably will arrive at the NAO base in a few hours at most. We received the transmission you forwarded from Scott as well, thanks for passing it on. I hope that besides this whole thing with the unknown X-Com forces, everything is going well down there?" <<tag DH if you want to respond here >>
  7. Ghost

    General Rant

You mean a chastity belt And yep, stay away from mine too. Go find Weindhoven's nut stash or something
  8. <<Note that Kappa team is not aware of the exact nature of Future X-Com yet>> XCS Peregrine, 12th of November 2067 Dmitri was walking through the corridors of the Peregrine, heading towards the navigation area, to check up on their progress. It had been a few days since they received the distress signal from Ralwell about Alpha team being captured by the unknown X-Com forces. On the way there he decided to stop by the engineering bay, where Derrick was busy investigating the tracks they found on Paronnen III with Kaitlin. As the doors slid open, he found the both of them each working in their own way, Kaitlin had some pictures pinned to the wall, and was looking at them while making notes on a datapad, while Derrick had an array of photo's spread over a table, and scribbled his notes on a piece of paper. "So, have we found out anything about our unknown enemies?" Kaitlin turned around towards Dmitri and replied first, before Derrick could. "Not much yet, as far as I can tell from the looks of these footprints we found, the attackers were at least bipedal, and about the weight of average humans, except this one here." She pointed at a pair of footprints among the others. Not much special was visible about them. "These prints are much deeper than the others, and seem to be far more precisely measured in distance and position from eachother. I know it's just speculation, but if I had to guess it's probably some form of robot, or mobile armor, or something along those lines." "Hmmm, sounds interesting... robotics wasnt that far developed when we left Earth, though 7 years can change a lot I suppose... although we dont know where these unknown attackers come from still, though they claim to be X-Com, both according to the Ascidians and the transmission we received from Ralwell on the Patton. Anyway, Derrick, found out anything about their ship?" <<Tag DH, or of course another Kappa member if they have anything to add in, Alpha feel free to post in between as well on your setting in the Rommel >>
  9. XCS Peregrine, orbit around Ascidia, 25 October 2067 A few minutes after Cal sent out Kin'jih'ma to fetch Ghost, the door to Calvin's quarter's opened again. Through it stepped the large shape of Lieutenant Schmerjchanikov. He looked at Calvin a moment and noticed he was obviously feeling quite badly, especially considering he was mumbling to himself, and the psionist didnt even seem to have noticed his approach, which was quite unusual Dmitri knew from experience around Cal. He stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, sitting down in a seat across from where the psionist was sitting. "What's the matter Cal? Kin'jih'ma came to me, telling me you had asked for me to come here urgently, and that you were feeling quite badly. He said you needed some kind of drugs from Yorke on the Patton or something like that. What's the matter, and what do you need?" The lieutenant looked at Cal, waiting for a reply, somewhat worried about their psionist. He had a feeling they might need him on their new assignment with these strange new enemies... assuming they are enemies. <<Tag Raven, or bug me on Yahoo/MSN for a joint post >>
  10. Would you mind if I took a look at the sim? Just curious on how things go, etc I won't be participating (unless you'd want me to), just observing.
  11. Ghost

    XCAS Roleplay 2

Yulinis VI - Alien Craft Crashsite, 22 July 2067 Dmitri looked at the few surviving aliens as they were put in the transport and taken away. "To think that once I considered these.. creatures... as possible saviors of the human race... I guess I really was quite naive at the time. And it cost me dearly," he thought to himself. Then a faint grin formed on his lips. "Hopefully our interrogations will reveal something more about their plans and whereabouts." As the last of the aliens was loaded into the transport, the hatch closed and it took off. Ghost looked at it, flying away, and then turned around towards their own shuttle, where Kaitlin was already discussing the take-off with the Ascidian pilot. Hopefully Ko and Chavez wouldn't be too long in that UFO, Ghost didn't really feel like staying on this planet much longer. UGS Patton - Bridge, 2 August 2067 Colonel Brad Cyriacus was sitting in the pilot's chair, looking at the screens of the Ascidian flight system that was installed when they restored the almost destroyed Patton. He felt at ease here, a place to think. It felt like he belonged in this seat, yet it had been a while since he had been actively piloting. Sure he had flown the Patton most of the time, but the Patton had become more of a home-base rather than a combat craft. This was of course a good thing, as it wasnt built to be a fighting vessel, yet he longed to feel the suspense and thrill of a larger scale space battle again. There were more serious problems at hand at the moment though. The aliens hadnt been beaten by far yet, however it seemed there was a threat among their own men as well now. Something like this Cyriacus hadn't really considered possible, as the aliens don't really make allies, for as far as he remembered. However the Black Spear's existence proved that this was not entirely true anymore. Apparently these aliens were somewhat different from the original aliens on Earth. Cyriacus wondered what the traitor or traitors thought they could gain from this alliance though. Everyone had experienced the Aliens either directly or through the X-Com military training back on Earth. Cyriacus had gone through the personnel records of all the currently defrosted personnel, and had come up with no definite answers. He knew of the previous Cult of Sirius affiliations of Ghost and Rallwell, although both of them kept it very secret, and neither of them parted with the Cult on very good terms. In Ghost's case it was even bad terms as he had fought what seemed to be a miniature crusade against them back on Earth. Also, Dmitri wasn't even on the Patton, nor near it, and Rallwell had never really been that much part of the Cult according to her records. Further he had found several things on a large variety of things on several people, however most of these were trivial at best. And then there were the Kabron pirates. He didnt have any record on most of these, and what he did have on records was usually just a criminal record, not much to go on really. The traitor remained to be a riddle that required solving. Hopefully Scott could get some more leads from his 'interviews'.
  12. I can run XCAS^Bot for you if you want Mouse, just send me instructions on how it works and it should be no problem As for your departure, it is certainly a shame to see you go. I know that in the past while you have not been able to dedicate your time to the sim, but still you were the one that created it, the one that started us off, that one fateful day where the Patton went through the wormhole, got attacked by an alien UFO, and after a lot of ::shoots sectoid:: and a swarm of arachnomortuses we were saved by the Ascidians And even though some of your sims were... not entirely realistic, they were always fun. It is a shame to see you will be taking your leave from XCAS, but know that you are always welcome here, and it would be great if you'd come and observe from time to time. XCAS will not die, not if I can help it (though I admit I have been less active than I would have liked to be recently). ::salutes to Mouse:: It has been an honor and privilege to be one of the Cydonia mission's original crew, to serve under you Commander Weindhoven. And it is still an honor to be part of the X-Com team in the Ascidian space. May your studies go well and your grades be high
  13. Although it is strange that entire files would get *deleted* by a power outage unless it wasnt saved, I guess it is possible (as Bob experienced it), and either way it doesnt really matter: The file was lost, so it will need to be typed up again I would help with the debriefs myself, but I'm afraid I dont have enough time myself either
  14. I can take the Peregrine, the grenade launcher and the NVG if you want
  15. We would be making shotguns from scratch, as we didn't carry any with us originally If we had any to reverse engineer, it would probably not even require research to build it either, as it is a known weapon, and it's details would already be in the UFOpaedia. (the UFOpaedia on the website is not *all* the info we have in the UFOpaedia, just the info relevant to us at this point)
