ah, cheers man. i don't know... maybe i was just spoilt in s2 and s3... but why does everything in hammer and sickle have to be ridiculously vague? and why does this mod continue the trend?

nope, it's definately a flawed gem. i recommend these two walk throughs, as there is only two major paths through the game. you can do things sort of in your own order, but if you miss one thing in one part it can completely ruin your chances of being able to do another thing. Main Path Walkthrough Alternative Path Walkthrough Don't give up on it yet, though. it is a good game, maybe in time with patches or mods it will be great. (that shouldn't need to be the case though, dodgy team)

i had a problem with this mod. after killing the guys who came back after the 5 minute waiting, on gaffburg, the radio never appeared. this was using no other mods. i can't progress without ze radio, unfortunately.

i'd kill for that setup! 6600's are fairly decent cards, and should be overkill for this game. try getting the GFX configuration utility and turning off things like FSAA, or leave it at 2x/4x, put the resolution at 1024x768 (who needs more anyhow?), and things like lighting and shadows shouldnt be an issue, but if you like, there is a 'fastest' option in the GFX utility that will turn off all the flashy stuff. on second thoughts.. something must be screwed up. that system is enough to have everything really high on this game. 6600x2? do you mean SLI? crazy, man! maybe you have alot of spyware.. or possibly a virus! try cleaning up your computer, or possibly formatting. there is no reason you shouldnt own this game, and be able to max it. i have CPU a few models slower than yours (2800) and i have a crappy ATI 9600pro and i can have alot of settings on and okay resolution... on 32bit..

has anyone knocked up any mods for h&s yet, other than the uniform change one? seeing as everyone has been having so many problems with the game reverting to the 'short-cutoff ending' and such, i'm suprised noone hasnt added a mod which eases or fixes this. if you know of any mods, please post here! i shall too if i find any. -eddy

i've got it, it's very cool, the additions to the engine are really nice, in regards to weapons, stats and so on. the role playing elements and costumes and what not add alot too. my only dislike about it at the moment is the story is really tempremental, there is very little lee-way for doing things wrong in missions, and very often if you mess up, you won't know til it's too late, and it actually screams up your path on the campaign and you're occasionally having referring back to older saves just because of not picking up something stupid, or killing one too many cops/allied guard. but maybe that'll be fixed with mods, who knows. it's a good game, though, all fans of silent storm will lap it up.

thanks for the guide, i've read it already, but it was no help... the problem seems to be, using config file editing, or the gfx config utility, once you turn off 'shadows' it turns off light sources, bump mapping, etc etc. i don't know why this does this, i've tried various types of configurations, but unless i want to be standing in a boring non-lightmapped environment which it seems you HAVE to have some kind of shadowing. it's very annoying... the reason for this is, my cpu is nice, but my graphics card is on its last legs. i ussualy run games on 800x600 with 2x AA, and options like pixel shading, advanced light sources and shaders don't seem to affect the FPS at all in games such as Quake 4, Doom III, Sims 2, Half life 2... and so on.... but shadows... i don't understand why, i'd imagine it has something to do with all the calculations involved, ... they seem to make a HUGE difference in the lag i get. and S2s shadows are quite ugly unless you have it on 'very high' anyhow, as they are blocky and messy, so i'd prefer to have them off anyhow. but anyhow, i'm kind of over playing this game until i get myself a new graphics card, which shall be soon enough, but thanks for the help anyhow, guys. peace -eddy

has anyone noticed, that they can turn all the graphics on high and so on, but the second you 'turn off' shadows in the graphic tweaker utility, the bump mapping, nice quality lighting and so on all disapear, even if the options for those things are still ticked... this is really annoying, as my computer is nice, but my graphics card, a 9600pro which is on it's last legs seems to do well in games like quake 4 with bump mapping and all the lighting so on cranked up, but the second it has to process semi-complex shadows like in S2, it doesnt like it at all. does anybody know how i can go about removing the shadows, but still leaving all the pretty bump mapping and lighting? i really don't even like the shadows, as i have to crank down the shadow quality to get it running nice and it's ugly as hell. thanks in advance -eddy

man, i need this item! i blew up a 3-4 story building with a hecsogen charge, and an item i needed was on one of the topmost floors. the building blew up, and the item stayed mid-air! the surrounding area is blown up beyond any repair so i can't get it. i've actually tried shooting it, grenading it, and lasering-it with the hope of knocking it down. but no avail. ARG! what can i do? other than restart the mission? it's the one where you 'first' encounter PK wearing enemies, the big factory, and i spent SO, so long disarming those big TNT boxes and what not, i really don't want to do it again. thanks in advance -eddy
