  1. Ah - so they are worth a visit I'll give it a try - will have assault rifles soon, so the problem's not too tough. At least I hope so thanks, cduke
  2. Hope this one is not too plain. Works very fine for me: Flank the enemy! Cover enemy units with supressive fire from the front, whilst one or two units equipped with shotguns (yeah. I love shotguns.) flank them. Mostly enemys won't take care of the units who are trying to flank them until it's too late. Works good against guys with launchers or nades too.
  3. The alien spaceship is finally setting it's course torwards earth (13.5 days to go) and I wonder if I have researched zealously enough. I don't even have researched assault rifles (still researching on this one). So I just built a second basic weapon lab to speed things up a bit. Hope that helps. Any idea on your technology status in this phase before the arrival? I really wonder if I am advanced enough. I also have'nt "met up" with the cultists yet - but their red territorry is spreading so I guess I soon have to. Is it a wise decision to bother with the cult at this stage? Regards and thanks for your effort, cduke
  4. Nice paintings in the background - I love those pieces of modern art
  5. @PJ - any error messages, or just crash to desktop and that's it? @Pete: there is a huge difference between True Color and High Color - take a look at smooth color transitions. Hurts your eyes at High Color.
  6. Wow - thanks for all the detailed answers! I was hoping that I could keep my workers dumb and refused to build schools Thanks guys! cduke
  7. Ripley, do you have three weapon labs of the same kind in Stuttgart? Or is it one of each kind? In fact splitting bases to "topics" like Stuttgart=Weapons, Russia=Implants and so on sounds like a very good idea - I'll give it a try. I have no whatsoever shortage of any material so this is not the problem. I just wondered because I have to do about three missions a day and research takes about a day in average. Thanks for your help! Best regards, cduke
  8. I wonder how I can speed up research? Do multiple labs of the same type help? My advance in research seems kind of slow to me, but maybe I'm far too impatient
  9. I just wondered - if they are listed as idle they could also be something else than idle - imho. regards cduke

    Home alone

Finally met a Morelman inside an old facility building. I am sooo happy *sigh*. He was also very happy too - he threw a grenade at me. *relieved* cduke
  11. I've encountered the following issue: schools, colleges and the like are always displayed idle. Can I task them somehow? I did not find any items I could research or build there. Oh - one more thing: It has now happened twice, that the debriefing screen shows items (like the Uzi SMG), which are not shown in my equipment screen later on - like they never went into my storage. Eg. - I found the Uzi and some 9mm ammo, but only the ammo was stored afterwards. I could see in my ornance facility that I had some 9mm ammo in store. Best regards and TIA cduke
  12. Hi there, I wonder if you've also noticed that aliens never stay in houses available on the maps - they're always out for a walk. Maybe they're addicted to fresh air - I don't know. I never had a single mission where I could find 'em inside a house. In fact it seems to me that houses are always save to enter. Maybe this changes later in the game? I've done about 10 missions yet (I know thats not too far ). It's nice that they've added the possibility to enter houses as an improvement over UFO: Aftermath, but who cares if they're always empty? *confused* greetz cduke
  13. Can't resist to drop some words too. Sill waitin' for UFO: Afterpatch. cya cduke
  14. Don't want to dig my heels in too much on that graphics stuff, but things like those grass bunches really hurt my eyes. Since I am using a GeForce 6800 GT I'm sure that it can't be blamed on the video card. I think it would be great if they just buy a graphics engine for their next title - eg. Battlefield 2 had some serious eyecandy! Anyway - more thigs that would be great in future UFO titles: I'm not sure - maybe I have not advanced far enough in the story, but one thing that would greatly enhance gameplay (imho) is if aliens would actually DO something. A little tricky to explain. In UFO as is they're just running around spread over the map, without any goal or purpose. I'd really look forward to see them do something that makes sense, like two aliens guarding - I don't know - a broken spaceship, aliens who have occupied an old facility building and who handle their daily duties: guarding strange looking devices, cooking the alien-meals, cleaning alien floors and toilets (ok, this one's ironical ) or building some alien stuff - repairing their broken spacecraft for example. Hope you guys get what I mean. regards cduke
  15. I'd like to have better graphics next time - the engine is really disappointing except for the infrared (and whatever views are available...) - they really look cool! The rest of the graphics are outdated by far. The interface is, uhm, designed kind of loveless. Yes, I know it's a tactical game - but why does it have to look like chess? Other features I'd like to see are vehicles - drivin' around with small tanks or something alike. Maybe helicopters. And satellite scans of the area. greets cduke
