  1. ctrl-K I knew there was a short cut. But didn't think of "ctrl" I fired up the game and hit all the buttons until something happened. Thanks for the help
  2. I made the modification a while ago to be able to turn on/off the foliage. Now, I can't seem to remember how to turn it back on. The maps look a little baron without the tree cover. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  3. Interesting cutscene trigger. spoiler: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. I remember the last mech(after the 3) being indestructable or else it was because I didn't have any grenades strong enough to get through the armor. The console said that no damage had been given. I ended up running my scout who had the most APs back behind him and up the stairs. Can't remember how much health he had, but I am sure he hadn't lost much. The other guys just took cover.
  4. I played this part and walked through it. A bit dissapointing. The mechs at the end were a bit annoying, but as long as you had some armor piercing rockets and some heavy frag grenades then you were fine. I'm not sure what is going on with the cinematics, but I can assure you that it is possible. The end is short, yet satisfying in some sick way. Good luck.
  5. They are seperate games. Sentinals takes place after the war and has an economy to deal with(buying/selling weapons and characters). Which I think makes for a better game. There are some really fun missions in S2 though. Have fun.
  6. You might try the Random Storm mod which adds some 18 new random encounters to Poland. There are usually better weapons and more enemies. I just started a new game with this mod in play and after only playing the second mission(plus a ton of random encounters) I'm at level 10 with 30K in the bank. What kills me though is the price of medical attention. Its a bit rediculous. Are your guys healed up when there VP bar is full but yellow or does it need to be green. They have all of their VPs, but I'm wondering if it being yellow makes you more suseptable to criticals. Keep truck'n
  7. The hank of wire is for defusing traps. Doesn't make any sense but that is what is it used for. Its basically the next level up of the mine probe. Another way to get your engineer skill up is to mine house. Mine every window and door. It helps but you will go through grenades quick. If you play on a higher difficulty level the enemies will usually drop more grenades. I've found that playing on a higher(even impossible) level isn't that bad. Especially when your team gets up a few levels. The point is that you get more experience and your skill goes up quicker. You can also set mines and then defuse them over and over. Make sure you quicksave or you will be in for some frustration when your engineer blows themselves up. I hope that helps. Good luck.
  8. Come to think of it, I am always getting shot in the head. I've managed to get the strongest armor. My guys have it if and when it comes in handy: Grenades and the like.
  9. Does anyone use the body armor? It sounded good so I equiped my squad with it, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. What are your experiences?
  10. I finally got to see some Kleins in Sentinals. The fact that they can be shot with rockets and high-powered rifles is a nice improvement. It is much more difficult to grenade the driver now though? I managed to get a couple really cool Kleins from the special Egypt mission. The rest were destroyed. Usually in S2 a powerful fragmentation grenade thrown behind the klein would kill the driver without damaging it too much. Its seems here that the driver is protected 360. Using the snipe with two turns worth of APs to the head was the only way I could consistantly hurt the driver with minimal damage to the klein. Kleins have always been too slow and overpowering so I quit using them. It always seemed more fun to treat them like tanks and try to flank them. I haven't used them at all in Sentinals. I usually destroy them with a armor-peircing round or consistant fire from a MG-34(or similar). Mines are somewhat effective. What are some of your strategies? Either capturing or destroying. The Egypt mission by the way was a bit frustrating. Fortunately I lucked into a nice ambush at the beginning. Ended up losing a couple of guys though. Lots of good loot!
  11. I'm confused. Have you read the thread? Plenty of valuable hints and tricks for you to try.
  12. Managed to beat this thing the second time through. I just ran in from both sides with PPD 40s blazing. Only one bomb was set. This was a frustrating mission. I hate going through missions again in games simply because I had know idea how the mechanics of the thing worked. Its over now though. The forum realy helped. After realizing I would have to redo the whole mission I read this whole thread. Helped alot thanks to all that contributed. On to the next mission.

    Shotguns

I've never heard of a shotgun being illegal in war. The SPAS(sp?) 12 is an assault shotgun used by the military and police forces. The shotgun was also used in the Pacific theatre of WW2 and Vietnam. It is a great close range weapon. If you got hit by a shotgun at a 100 yards or more it would not be much different than getting some shrapnel in your butt from a grenade. If you get hit at close range you will mostly likely be too dead to care. "a weapon that causes an unusual amount of pain and agony" How is a flamethrower not this?
  14. Haven't gotten too far in the game yet. I found a couple of German officer uniforms, which turn out to be the most expensive. All of my three guys are decked out in civilian uniforms. I thought they looked like gangsters. I'll post a screenshot later. Do different uniforms help in missions(ie camoflauge) or is it just an aesthetic thing?
  15. The graphics and characters are taken right from s2. Is this a mod of the game or is it on a new engine?
