  1. I'll try that sometime. It happens intemittently, maybe around 30% of shot-down ships are indestructible.
  2. The game is not crashing, The problem is the UFO ships have indestructible parts: shot-down UFOs are undamaged, UFO interior parts like power source cannot be destroyed by even grenades. My soldier can open the door of a scout ship, throw a grenade into the ship, killing all the aliens inside, and still get all the salvaged parts from the UFO with no material loss. Started a new game and it seems to be still happening. Probably related to some of the UFO extender settings (Wreck Analysis affects this, there may be more).
  3. The spaceship interior consoles and power source cannot be destroyed by grenades. I am not sure what controls the resistance of these. I remember that power sources should be easily destroyed even by a stray shot. Maybe it's the OBDATA file?
  4. I reinstalled both XCOM and the Extender and the problem seems to be fixed now. I suspect the problem is due to the different exe file used for the Extender and for the AI patch.
  5. X-Com Extended has a bug with the Wreck Analysis feature (gives a %chance of analyzing purpose of alien mission on a crashed UFO). With Wreck Analysis turned off, all crashed UFOs and their interior parts are indestructible, even if you throw a grenade inside the ship on the power source. With Wreck Analysis turned on, if the game calculates that the subsequent wreck analysis is going to be successful, the crashed UFO will always be undamaged and its interior parts indestructible as above. Anybody knows how to fix this?
  6. So basically new players who know nothing about ray weapons or Sea Devil are screwed. Anyway, where can Big Joe & Little Joe be found?
  7. I have finally completed the game for Allies. The final boss is very tough but luckily I have the Prototype 8M1 and took her down with multiple short bursts (lost both the scout and sniper, medic in Panzerklein almost died). How do you beat the game without this overpowered weapon?
  8. I saw some mentions elsewhere about using a timed grenade. How do you set the timer?
  9. For those walled up complexes (with solid walls that cannot be destroyed) having only 1 or 2 entrances, how do you even enter through gate without getting shot at? My scout, hidden and crouched facing the gate, only has to move 1 step sideways to look through the gate before getting killed by an interrupt full burst from quite a distance away (too far to grenade or full burst). I have to send in my soldier to get noticed and take the burst damage before I can get through the gate.
  10. Thanks. How do you usually storm a well defended position, like a house filled with enemies? When I try to open a window/door (while crouching) to view a target in the house, my character tends to get shot to pieces by interrupt. Rocket launcher and grenade range is too short for me to fire one into the house from some distance away.
  11. 1. When an enemy is spotted, there is a grey or red circle on the head of the enemy. What do the red and grey colours mean? 2. When my character gets wounded, sometimes there will be a permanent VP reduction icon for the character. How is this condition treated? Is this considered a critical wound? Is bleeding also a critical wound? 3. After dressing a wounded character, the damaged red portion of the VP bar is now beige colour. Does this have any negative impact on the character stats? Is it okay to continue using this character for a few more missions without going back to the base hospital for healing? 4. On hard difficulty, if a character is so badly damaged that his name no longer appears in the squad (in the battle screen), does this mean he is dead? Any use in carrying the body back to base? 5. On hard difficulty, if out of 6 characters, 4 are unconscious and I only have 2 characters left to carry the bodies back, does this mean that the remaining 2 characters not carried back are automatically KIA? 6. Are experience points only gained from killing enemies? Theoretically, can a character do nothing and still level up if other characters do the killing? 7. I know rifles are most accurate when in prone position and grenade launchers when in crouch position. What about pistols and machine guns/SMG? For melee weapons, which position is best? 8. When characters level up, the flickering plus-sign only shows up when I happen to select the individual character. How do I know that a character has levelled up at the very first instance without manually selecting the character? Does it have something to do with what that character says?
  12. It is freeware and under development but there is a playable version. It aims to be as fun as XCOM but with improvements. I have tried a few missions, and it looks good. The tactical battles have some ragdoll physics too. To those who have played before, do you think it is better than the commercial versions of UFO:Afterlight/Aftershock/Extraterrestrials etc.? I have only played the original XCOM1 before this.
  13. What are the average damage values for Reapers, Celatids, Silacoids and Zombies? Do Sectopods and Cyberdiscs do heavy plasma damage? Can a Crysallid attack fail due to too little damage being done?
  14. I would like to increase the costs of facilities, maintenance, weapons, salaries to increase the difficulty of the economic aspect of X-com, without increasing the difficulty of the battles. Some editors I downloaded only allows modification of the save game file to change the facilities costs and this change is overwritten when I save the game over the same slot. Which files are these costs data stored and how can I modify them?
