  1. Hello, I am planning on starting a kickstarter in the distant future for my 8-bit game project, Quantum Dragon, when I reach beta and was wondering if any of you like the concept and/or would potentially back it and help spread the word. I suppose this is more of "getting a feel" of a pre-kickstarter as I'm not officially ready to do. I know some familiar faces here and was very curious what your input is, such as what type of features would you be interested in a turn based RPG (ie: single player, online play, co-op, etc) similar to old school Final Fantasy / Dragon Warrior. You can visit my deviantart page in my signature to see more of the preview artwork if you're interested.
  2. Hi! Let's see how it turns out, it looks promising to me for once...
  3. Long time no see. I originally found this site again due to the new X-com coming out, but I was curious on this issue lately. I've never constrained my time into politics, but these bills really made me wake up that I"m living in a fantasy just to ignore this stuff. Yes, I agree with the maddox analogy. Don't even bother supporting these crappy industries, ever. You can protest now by just finding alternatives. The world is going to hell, and I think it's about time we woke up and actually did something about it. MegaUpload is just proof they don't need any of this regardless. Read maddox's article to see who supported this bullshit: http://maddox.xmission.com/
  4. It's been a long time since I posted on these boards, and xcomufo's. I haven't necessarily vanished form the web, just am elsewhere for specific interests. If you're wondering where you can find me in a more active manner, you can check out / follow my new blog page (game development blog): http://keizgon.blogspot.com/ I know this appears a little spammy, but hey, I known you awesome fellas for awhile, I think you'll not kill me for it.
  5. Who cares what it actually is...my point it's a very simple creature concept. I can come up with a giant organ (brain, whatever) moving around on the ground, causing everything to catch fire as it rubs its ass on the grass, and mauls people randomly. My point is it's just as simple of a concept. I don't need concept art to preview a game. What are you talking about? Wait until a full game review is out and it's released? Honestly, we have too little information to judge. Calm down.
  6. I think there just is too little info, like many people said, to judge it. There are different people's views how X-COM SHOULD be, but all in all, everyone has different taste. I loved the tactical part of X-COM yes, but I also liked how it scared the shit out of me as a kid when I first played it. Personally, from the video, I felt something quite interesting build up right at the cinematic beginning. There's something about the 50's that just immerses a good scenery for this type of "alien invasion" game. Having said that, gameplay is NOT cinema. No matter how hard you try to impress gamers with your cinematics, it all boils down to gameplay. I, myself, don't find the need for "ultimate graphics" and straying for such an endeavor has led to many disgraceful games. In fact, it downright pisses me off nowadays when I see a game trailer with a fucking cinematic and hardly (if ANY) gameplay. Seriously a game is NOT a movie, so stop it. If you can make a good game with a movie feel, good for you. Just stop scrapping an important part of the formula. Now AFTER the cinematic, I got kind of disappointed. The blobs are OK (though the screams are kind of fun!), however, those floating totum poles or whatever they are, it better not be an alien (I may believe it being a craft?). A flying totum pole being an alien...now that would be a disgrace to not just the X-COM title, but all character designs. If there are more than just a blob and a totum pole (which I'm sure there is, who in their right mind would make a game with ONLY 2 types of enemies), then I would call it a disgrace along with many of the new games today. Oh and remember, Silacoids were borderlined blobs (ok, brain blobs?) in X-COM 1. So TECHNICALLY, if I developed X-COM 1 today and just showed you that as a trailer, people being mauled by Silicoids, you would flip probably. But I'd quit this "THIS IS NOT X-COM" or you may never find out if they pull the plug on the thing from so many damn hate mail. While I'll end up probably hating it like any other new game today, I'm going to find out before I send in the "You suck" mail to the developers. Time will only tell...
  7. Lol, I see you posted that link I gave you. Damn, beat me to it. Absolutely the best fan flash game ever. I never play flash games, they're usually designed horribly. This one blew me over.
  8. Nevermind, the person who runs the game will ban you for disagreeing with them "outside" their game and ToS even if you A) Subscribe B) Promote it C) Be a good boy in game
  9. Well it looks like they've been working hard up until after 2008, and recently in Feb.
  10. So where is this project? I currently don't have any links and didn't grave dig it in the xcomufo forum... Is it still alive? If so, any links? If not, why is this forum section existing?
  11. I remember when I reloaded all the time for this game...all the way up to playing UFO2000 where I realized I couldn't do that against online players. Then I stopped altogether...well just 1 here and there. But yea, reloading is just horrible excuse to play a game IMHO.
  12. I haven't looked at the entire site, but it seems pretty good! At least I think, has many people been actively using your site and participating? Just curious because sometimes it just seems dead around ufo2000's community.

  14. I don't have cutting edge, but I know you can get pretty close to it for pretty cheap by building your own computer. Just buy the hardware separately and the 2nd or 3rd best of the product. When Nvidia came out with their 8900 GT 512mb video cards, they were $400 and I went for the $200 8800 GTS 512mb. http://tigerdirect.com is pretty good for finding low cost hardware. It works perfectly for Blender (3D design). Of course, I use Linux, so I have yet (or never should I say) to say anything about how well its performance is for Windows Vista. @zaimoni: Not bad 8bit themed artwork going on with your avatar. Did you make it?
  15. You misunderstood what I was saying. I meant "Micro$oft has no business in this affair.". Of course, Nvidia needs to get on the ball.
