  1. Ah ha, thats the answer then, did stun raids on Osiron (twice), Marsec (4 times), Megapol (twice) and the Government (once) Not sure what my score was like, but that would certainly explain it. Oh well, I'm going to attempt to persevere (I know, I know, I'm mad!)
  2. I just started a new game on Novice (don't laugh, I wanted to try piracy as a career ) and about 12 hours into the game I got my first alert. I sent two agents thinking "well it the first mission, two will handle it easily". Imagine my surprise when I was faced with the following (bear in mind I hadn't even seen any UFO's yet, and the infiltration graph was empty) 4 Multiworms 3 Brainsuckers 7 (!) Spitters 2 Anthropods with Disruptors A Skeletoid with a Dimension Missile My andriods managed to survive (god knows how, though the power swords I'd retrieved in a marsec raid and the shields from Osiron helped) but I had to let half the aliens escape while my androids cowered inside a room with only one door blasting anyone who came in. Is it just me, or does this seem a bit OTT for your first investigation? The first time I played through the game (well, as far as week 2 anyway) my first investigation was a spitter, and an anthropod with a brainsucker launcher (and I still lost half my 8 man team - thank goodness for practice!) Sorry it was a bit of a long post, just thought I'd share this with everyone
  3. Only problem with it is that you can't nick their armour and things...

Let me guess, you were a pinball wizard?
  5. I've had my androids improve ever so slightly, I had 1 on 1%, 2 on 2%, but that was with my force of 15 androids (I like them). Never had more than 2% though, and they were sent on every mission I had...
  6. Finished the research and it is indeed the devastator... Its pretty cool isn't it
  7. OK, I'm in week 3 and I just got called to an alert, and the attackers were nearly all anthropods. None of them got a shot off because my agents were all carrying akimbo disruptors and cut them down as soon as they appeared (thats 8 disruptors in my 4 man team ) but, having returned to base, I have an alien artifact to research. It's description says "Alien Beam Weapon" and it looks like its a shoulder launched weapon. Its going to take me ages to research it, so I want to know now, what is it? Is it the much vaunted Heavy Disruptor?
  8. Count me in And I'm in britain, though may as well be on the other side of the globe living in Devon and all...
  9. It was a matter of principle... Good news though, I raided them twice in my lunchbreak, didn't lose a man and got 5 cyclones and lots of guns. Made enough to buy a replacement hawk. The CoS worry me though, with their willingness to use explosive and incendiary weapons (particularly heavy laucnhers) within their own building... Still, I now have disruptors and they are COOL
  10. Like you, its never happened to me before. My men were on the 2nd floor, when all of a sudden - bang - the floors all collapsed and I was informed my men had all died. Most bizarre. Still, I managed to level every CoS building in the city constantly for a week as revenge... :DGood old hawks
  11. I do just wait for the alerts, I lost a load of ships and when I raided the cult of Sirius temple they blew it up (!) while I was in there, just loads of heavy explosives and stuff, killed 24 agents just after I'd saved As a matter of principle I only use 1 save slot... Has any body else had the CoS blow up their own buildings? I was rushing round trying to disarm the HS but it collapsed because I missed a load. Very confusing and very annoying, my agent numbers have recovered but I am low on funds all the time at the moment because I'm only in week 3, though I am making disruptors now to sell, and doing the dellboy used car trading thing...
  12. Real time all the way... Had an interesting experience with my 4 man backup android commando squad at heavenly towers last night. It had been heavily infiltrated by aliens and after 2 real time hours of non stop combat, and 2 of the androids having to pull out because of injuries, I finally killed the last hyperworm (it was only in the first week of the campaign too). Final kill totals? Lowest was 23, highest was 97!
  13. Aggressive as it renders my android commando squad (8 androids if you were wondering) practically invulnerable. Can't be brainsucked, vaporise anything that pokes its head out, never need to side step. The only time I change this is when fighting humans (namely CoS) in which case I stick them on normal or else they tend to end up with rockets in their arse...
  14. I couldn't get the sound to work on mine... Ran the NTVDM (Windows XP) and set up the sound card to the specified parameters but then apoc wouldn't load. If I set it to no sound it works fine I also put the right line in. Oh well, the sound sucks a bit anyway. Got an SB Live! if you were wondering. Also, is there anyway of slowing the game down? Normal time runs about the same speed as triple time on my laptop, though the PC IS a P3 800... Its a bit hard to control though... Just need to slow it down a tad... Plz?
