  1. My technique is not the best, but it worked. (I never actually pack according to what I know is there, because I can never be certain what will be there, unless I go see and then reload the game, which is cheating.) I used: 1 Sniper 1 SLAW 1 Psi-Projector 1 Adv. Alien Laser Gun 1 Plasma Rifle 1 Medic with Adv. Alien Laser Pistol 1 Steyr Aug (All my Steyr Augs ) All with Enh. Light or Enh. Combat armour, as well as Psi Helmets. Dodged the rockets until I could control one of the aliens, who I used to kill the rocket alien on the road. This controlled alien was also a good distraction. Then I healed everyone. I prepared to go THROUGH the wall with the SLAW (this is actually stupid, but I like the idea). One alien came out of the gate, I controlled him and used him for a scout+distraction. Knowing where the aliens are I blasted open the wall, controlled the rocket alien, and he helped me blow everyone up. When inside, I sneaked all the way around the side into the big room, and then my most stealthy guy sneaked to the briefcase and brought it back. I did not see a single alien inside.
  2. One of my friends have the same drivers, but he uses a GeForce FX 5200, and he doesn't get the jumping lines problem. It's either the card, or the fact that I'm using DirectX 9.0b
  3. Many of the reviews of the original X-Com games said things along the same lines: Harsh and unforgiving Too difficult Dated graphics. They just don't understand.
  4. I'll wait until I've finished playing the game before I start modding. I don't want to spoil any surprises for myself.
  5. I don't see dull blue rooms, but there are these weird Shiny rooms without any texture. Since the new drivers cause trouble elsewhere in the game, it might help to rollback them, but I have not tried this yet.
  6. He never said the base is in the biomass. Check for weird pink goo with blue veins on the Geoscape, instead of normal terrain. If the base is in that, you need Bio-Mass Repulsors tech before conquering that base.
  7. Thanks, I'll try that.
  8. I patched to 1.2 before I started playing, and I only got that bug in the tutorial mission. In all other missions my troops get up and they automatically get all their stuff back. I haven't tried picking anything up afterward though. I've even had a soldier so injured that he had no visible health in his bar, and when I revived him he was just fine.
  9. Definitely armour variety (and different armours should have different graphics) Speed Suits Camo Armour Jump Armour The Psi-Helmet should look right with some of these armours. Also, we should try to get the earth alive and healthy again. I'm getting tired of all the dead stuff.
  10. It is strange that you are having so much trouble with bugs, since I'm having very few crashes and sometimes some graphics glitches, but I have not noticed anything major. It is also strange that you find the game so easy, since I have yet to find a tactic that is effective against those big rockets that the aliens can fire. Their mind control capabilities and warp weaponry are also quite formiddable. But if you're having bugs I can understand that you have not gotten to the difficult parts yet. In my opinion this game would have been a worthy addition to the X-Com series if it was an addition. Having played all four (4) X-Com games I know what I'm talking about. I'd give this game 80%.
  11. Usually the coloured lines and boxes for the plans (orders) gets the jitters. They are in place most of the time, but every few frames they seem to lose some of their coordinates and jump or stretch drastically. Rarely, this also happens with some of the icons on the GeoScape. I have a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra with the newest drivers, and all the other games work perfectly, so I do not think it's a driver thing. Does anybody else have similar symptoms?
