  1. According to Play it launches on the 30th of March
  2. By using the word "supported" do you mean monetary and material support? Because I don't think there's any proof at that, as far as I know. If on the other hand you are talking about moral support, then I doubt you can hold anyone accountable for that.
  3. I've actually wandered many times about how much "evil" is required to counteract evil. The short story is, that there is no easy answer. Personally, I'm leaning on exploring all viable alternatives, to the point of leniancy. Each one of us, has to draw the line between, overeacting to a perceived threat and the just being passive. However, the higher the "stakes" (i.e. population envolved) the more cautious one must be to the use of violence. And since we're giving examples, let me ask you this? How comparable is the police officer and robber example, to the one where a country proposes to put an end to another country's nuclear program, by drawing plans that focus around the use of tactical nukes?
  4. So, you justify becoming a beast, in order to remove one? And do you justify replacing the killer by becoming one?
  5. Why should dictators be treated any better than they treat the people over whom they rule? Cause that seperates the just from the beasts.
  6. Opinions, opinions. Even though I'm actually opposed to this particular system, I'm also against deamonizing it in such a way. This backwater little country I live in, has suffered a civil war between Democrats and Communists, and has seen some of the greatest attrocities commited (by both parties) in those systems name. There's no reason, in my point of view, to start a war because someone has different beliefs than your own (be they political or religious). Let me make clear at this point, that I'm making a distinction between believing in something and enforcing it unto someone (as both cold war superpowers have done). I'm objecting to your former quote, because you seem to be judging communism on its whole, regardless if its thrust upon you or not. One's opinions are another one's propaganda. Sponsorship of a school is another way of saying "influencing". Unfortunate as it may be, being given money is a form of accepting some form of authority over you. And this is understood and accepted by both the giver and the taker, which, in the very least, makes "suggestions" unavoidable. You can see where this leads. The whole issue about Creationism and Darwinism is another one concerning belief. Those who believe in science vs those who believe in God (without implying that these two are mutually exclusive). The thing that I find totally unacceptable though is that in some US schools, Darwin's theory is being dumped on it's whole in favor of Creationism and is not taught at all!! While the same argument can be made about Creationism, let us not forget that Darwinism has been scientifically proven. While science may have nothing to do with God, it is the only way of accepting something to be true in our era. Let me recommend in return Carl Sagan's "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark." as an example of that.
  7. DeepOne, may I suggest that, to some extend, you seem as you too may be a "victim" of another kind of propaganda? The governmental one? Western propaganda of the cold war era was full of phrases like that. In fact if you look at the core philosophy of communism (From the wikipedia: Communism is an ideology that seeks to establish a future classless, stateless social organization, based upon common ownership of the means of production and the absence of private property) you 'll find it is just a (failed) attempt at fighting social injustice. Of course it's implementation so far meant suppressing the individual. I could argue on the same points for Capitalism, as its current form has evolved into "Corporations stepping over everyone and everything they can find, in order to maximize profits" Arms dealing is not always done directly by governments, but by third parties, directly influenced by government, as well. Therefore, if something goes wrong "The government had nothing to do with it". These were just two examples from things you said that struck me as worthmentioning. All in all, propaganda is a very efficient, and often not too obvious, tool at leading the public into believing what one wants. Of course all of this doesn't necessarily mean it's true in your case.
  8. There actually is a pause function in the game. Simply press the "pause" button on your keyboard. That worked for me anyway! As far as the demo is concerned I was a little dissapointed as far as the tactical portion of the game is concerned. I order my ships to attack a specific target and despite everything I tell them I keep seeing them firing potshots at everything they might like. Moreover, sometimes, some ships blatantly ignore their move orders and seem to be drifting in space (and no, I checked their engine sections. They were intact) while others get right at it. It's making the whole fleet look like a disorganized mob. Overall feels like I don't have much control of the space battles and it bugs the hell out of me.
  9. Quickly please! It's giving me a headache too! (But then again I doubt anyone here gives a f@ck about me )
  10. I've just started the game and I'm currently at the point where I get some research items with the "biomass sample" thing but of course I can't research them cause I haven't got any biomass sample yet. I'm getting kind of worried though as it's been a while that I'm waiting for it and nothing about biomass has popped up yet. This and the Project Dreamland archives. I have researched everything else I could so far. Do I have to do anything in particular so they'll show up or I'm just toο impatient for the games taste? Thanx for any imput.
