  1. I was altering the Gamma setting in the UFO:A configuration, and noticed that it seems to affect the destop gamma too. After exiting the configuration app, it would turn back to the correct desktop gamma *sometimes*, but would also make the desktop progressively darker/lighter, depening on setting. Going into the Catalyst 3.7 control panel and onto the colour tab would immediately restore the correct desktop gamma settings. I don't think using the Catalyst 3.8's would help this, as I presume it is the UFO:A code that is affecting some universal setting. ----------- Also, no matter what refresh rate I select for 1024x768 from the control panel, the game always uses 120Hz. Didn't do this before the patch, but I was also forcing 85hz at 1024x768 before the patch via Rage3DTweak (Radeon tweaking tool - not using atm to set refresh rates). XP2100+ A7N8X Deluxe - 2.45 drivers Radeon 9700 - Catalyst 3.7's Windows 2K3
  2. Configuring planes would be cool, although I guess that the problem lies in that once you have a better weapon, you wouldn't put on a worse weapon anyway seeing as upgrades to planes are kinda "free" in the current way UFO:A is done. Maybe if some sort of fund system was introduced in some way, so that development of new weaponry/armour, etc, costs, and thus you would need to manage where you pooled your resources (i.e. do you develop better guns for your men to use, or do you develop better missles for your jets? But both would cost money, which if scarce, would limit what could be developed, development halting if you'd ran out on money). Money could maybe be gained from successful missions somehow? ^^ Would definately need a very different storyline than UFO:A if it were to involve paying for things in some way. ------- Also higher resolutions textures would be nice (some of them look a little low-res, esp. on the ground sometimes, or cliff-face areas)! :alien2: :alien2: :alien2: Oh, and the current levels of zoom in tactical missions (zoomed-in, zoomed-out) are too close I think, a third level of zoom, which was zoomed out further than the current standard level of zoom, would be good. Nice to be able to see large areas of the map to plan routes without having to keep scrolling around (on large maps at least).
  3. I did wonder if they were green because of night missions! Image enhancement, etc! Obviously the ones that were the same sequence but not green were during the day, that'll explain why I thought it was odd I must've only done/noticed it after using the 3.8 drivers, silly me!

    CRC error in save game

I'll give it a go, although I can't say any other games I play have been affected before. I'm getting really messed up sound now as well, and just had a very strange crash and reboot. I've got a feeling that it's since I installed the Catalyst 3.8's (some people are reporting quite bad problems with them), I think the new VPU recover function in those drivers may be getting in the way of things based upon the crash I had.
  5. Noticed this bug when I started using Cat. 3.8's on my Radeon 9700. When intercepting a UFO, the video that is played sometimes appears all in green and white, you can still make out whats going on, but its in the wrong colours (also looks a lot more pixelated than the normal colour video). Another thing is that this doesn't happen everytime, on some sequences it doesnt happen at all, while on others, its seems to happen sometimes, but not at others (even though the same video sequence is being played). Didn't happen with the Catalyst 3.7's, so I'm guessing this is an ATI driver bug, but worth mentioning anyway methinks.
  6. I had exactly the same problem when trying to rescue downed pilot "Mike". There was no path the the green area at all, gradients were too steep and there were too many trees blocking the way also. Tried for about 15mins to try and get there, no luck. Even the mutants near the green area couldn't get close enough to me to attack because off there being no path across.

    CRC error in save game

The thought did cross my mind, but it gets checked regularly and I havn't had any problems with it recently with anything else. Also the save appeared to work fine whereas I thought it may have hung the system/crashed the game (or an error at least) if it had had trouble saving. Will do a physical scan now to see.
  10. Athlon XP T'Bred 2400+ 512MB un-registered non-ECC Monitor - Dell P991 1024*768 @ 120Hz but running at 85Hz Graphics - Radeon 9700 using Cat. 3.8's Sound - Built in nForce 2 SoundStorm Mobo - A7N8X Deluxe using 2.45 nForce drivers + 1007 BIOS Windows 2003 Enterprise Server UFO: Afterman English version 1.1a installed fine (patch applied BEFORE ANY saves were made) Last time I played UFO:A everything was fine, saving games/loading games no problem. So...I quit the game and save before doing so. Now when I come back today, I find that trying to open my save game results in the following error: assert_fatal file: C:\ufo_src\ASL\kvfs.cpp line:116 "Profiles/Default/Saves/start.vfs": bad CRC So, complete nightmare. Unlikely I'm gonna be able to carry on with my save game due to it being corrupt. Start all over again I guess.....
