  1. The ride back home on the Avenger seemed like it took forever as Daniel looked into nothingness. It had become his custom on long space flights to set his glasses just to pick up low frequency X-rays, this just meant a blackness pierced by small flashes caused by cosmic radiation getting through the hull and probably going through everything else without doing much... His head rested slightly on it's side against the wall while his rifle was secured to the side of his seat. The ride back home... After so long NAO had become his home, his sanctuary, and after spending a few insane weeks there it had suddenly become some sort of hell dimension. Instead of a building that felt safe and could take on any aliens that were dumb enough to try, it now felt like an asylum from old horror movies. People went mad there, murders happened, people were strapped screaming to beds and it was almost like spectres haunted some of the rooms where things had happened. All this time Daniel had thought he was the crazy one, now he really felt like he'd gone crazy; reality could never be this sick and twisted. But now there were these humans maybe? All the way out here with wierd technology that owned Ascidians like plasma had owned humans all those decades ago in AW-I. Could they be here to get the team home? What if Earth as going to invade or something insane like that? The questions resonated around Daniels head along with the vibrations of the hull it was resting on, each one producing an almost impossible train of thought that made less sense than the last. But one question and one train of thought would always repeat after a few incoherent ones... Could I get home? But more importantly... Do I want to get home?
  2. Aha! It seems that some but not all of the irc ports are blocked I've managed to connect to starchat with port 6669 instead of the default ports, so I should be okay next sim Huzzah!
  3. Thanks for the help Pickers, but even when I use browser based ones I can't connect. It seems that the IRC ports may be blocked over this network... I'm going to ask a fellow in the know if this is the case and if there is a way around it other than using my dail-up connection at national call rates
  4. It seems I cannot connect to IRC servers from this great network I'm on. That or Starchat is down... Or my network connection is having a fit. I'll have to ask some of the computer Gods here to see what's going on. Sorry about missing yet another week
  5. "See you in the world of tommorow" - Karl, Futurama (or me copying him... Either way) Or I will if I join XCGS, which is looking doubtful at the minute due to time constraints and a distinct lack of irc connectivity... Curse you Keele network! Curse you!! If I don't see you soon, have excellent luck with everything you ever do, and don't destroy the world... I keep all my stuff there.
  6. I'm trying to connect to the irc server, but my network connection at Uni is having none of it when I use mIRC. Is there a java version or something http based I can use that might let me get by this travesty of justice? SOS!
  7. Screenshots are taken by pessing Ctrl + Alt + P, this should export it as a jpg to... erm.. somewhere in your UFO:A folder. I too have just met this pilot mission problem, so it looks like I'm going to have to clear out this small town of mutant monster things with 6 people and an already dwindling supply of grenades... I wouldn't mind too much if I just couldn't reach the pick-up area, which is inside a building, but the fact that the pilot is just stood right there, mocking me with his not-moving-ness... Oh well, hopefully this will get properly sorted out next patch.
  8. *Surfaces from the pile of work and societies for a moment* God Speed and good luck! *Sinks back into the coursework area and is swallowed forever* Jackson> ::Salutes so hard it hurts his face, what with the hand smacking it and all:: Good luck sir! It's been one of my finest honours working for you, and longest; most COs would quit or shoot me after two missions... I'll make sure a bard composes a song in your honour when we get back to Earth, a song with no lobsters, magnets, badgers or even walnuts mentioned at all.
  9. Erm, I now have a different problem with the demo. When I start the game, the screen has a serious error, it seems to be misaligned with my monitor. The bottom of the UFO:A screen is now about 2 inches above the bottom of the monitor, with the top of the UFO:A screen now rolled over to the bottom, so when I move my mouse pointer as high as it'll go, it appears at the bottom of the monitor screen. It's also misaligned to the left and right, with the very left hand side now appearing on the right side of the monitor, having rolled over there again. I'm using the latest drivers for my ATI Radeon 9200 on Windows XP. It does this when I start the game too, which seems to crash or freeze or something when I get into the tutorial tactical section, but the music still plays in the background. Have I done something wrong in a past life I'm now paying for?
  10. No no, I am both sane and insane at the same time. Thanks to my quantum physicist training I can be both at once and it be perfectly fine. I have what is called crazy-sane duality, which works well and is fully explained by physics. Just for the love of god never, ever, try to diffract me through two slits of cardboard!
  11. To be honest I have almost done so already, as all of my fellow Lindsay block T inmates are normal humans who do not know the wonder of Lobster-magnet. As a result, I have had to be quiet and removed when around them. Instead, I'm just a nerd around other nerds, which I generally get to be a few hours each night Curse these normies! I wanted a room next to an internet addicted lobster enthusiast, is this university so poor as to be unable to match up two insane people together!?! Or maybe that is why they haven't put the mad people together... Safety and all.
  12. Hhmm... It seems I've lost track of what day it is. In my head I've started refering to the weekend as 'nolectureday' and counting it as one long day that happens to get dark in the middle. I shall endevour to make it tonight. If I don't... I'll probably be playing CS and loosing terribly at it. I'm rank 113 of 117 on the server! How cool is that! The only names below me are ones like 'player' and people that have turned up once and tried to learn how to play the game. In fact... I think my CS skills are much like Jackson... This is spooky. I'm always the first to get shot, I always get shot, I'm always the one to get the grenade to the forehead... In fact if I look at my skill index instead of my score rank... Egads! I'm 34 on the skill chart! I'm brilliantly skilled but I can't convert said skills to pay the said bills! The curse of Jackson travels via any electronic media! Be afraid!
  13. I'm two weeks into my university course and I still have no idea when one my lectures is. It's being moved around because of assorted madness, so it's a lot like an academic 'whak-a-mole'. If you see it on the notice board you've got to be fast or you'll miss your chance! *Plays carnival music* Gah! Tuesday at 3! *runs* No! Now it's friday at 9! *runs* Monday!?! Noooo! *runs* etc...
  14. Once again I owe you my life. However, I need it, therefore I give you this in exchange. *Gives Pete a slug* It too has a life, one that you can take at will should your mighty intellect wish. All hail Pete!
  15. I now refer to my principle science learning centre as the Leonard Nemoy building to my peers and tutors alike... Thank you, thank you so much
