  1. The more of a type of base you have, though, the better you are at something. Like if you have 5 research bases, you can research 5 times as quickly as if you had only 1. Also, where I am in the game (only January), the position of my miilitary bases influence how quickly I can get to a mission. So it might seem that it'd be best to have loads of military bases, because then I can get to any mission quickly. But since the missions hang around for ages that's not a problem so far, so long as my 5 military bases are laid out more or less pentagonally. Doing it like that, I can get everywhere nice and quick, research stuff pretty quickly (though not as quickly as I want, yet) and I can develop anything available (which so far isn't too much) without waiting days and days. I think I'll tip the balance toward research bases. Since I keep getting bases nearly every mission, I should be able to keep the military bases equidistant and ramp up my research speeds.
  2. I got the game this morning, and I've been playing ever since. Had a couple of problems with the mission generation (some have been impossible, so I've restarted the game.) My current game is half way through January. I control all of Europe, half of Asia (sort of), I'm expanding into Africa and into the Arctic circle towards North America, and I've got 14 bases. I've got 5 Military, around the edges of my territory. 5 Research and 4 Engineering. I think I might be overfunding my engineering and underfunding my research, since I've got quite a lot to research and nowhere near as much to engineer. And does anyone think I'm expanding too quickly? I can't help it, mind you. I've only lost a couple of missions (where my Interceptors were downed) and the CoE troops just keep handing me territory even if my troops are spending a few days recovering or training and I don't want to send a shoddy team out to an alien base. Boy, do I love this game. Just wish I could play on it all the time. (I'd need to to keep up with everyone else. I'm notoriously bad at pretty much all games, though at the Battle Isle series I'm a God!) How's everyone else working their bases?
  3. There should be something in the code to make sure, I agree. My problem though, seems to be that no matter how often I load a pre-London game, or even start over with a brand new game (as I've done a few times), the London mission is ALWAYS impossible. So I was wondering if anyone has played a London mission where you can get over the river, because no matter how many 'randomly generated' missions I optimistically accept (whether it's the first London mission in the game, or whether other troops have succeeded or failed an earlier one), I'm stuck on the wrong side of the pestilent stretch of effluential river. Sorry. I needed to vent some frustration there. Take no notice. But as a general question: Are the London missions possible, or do you have to delegate them all?
  4. Well, I'm having this problem every damn time! Whenever I have a London mission, I turn up on the wrong side of the Thames with no way of getting across. I don't want to delegate the missions or ignore them, and I'm starting in Europe, and London missions are appearing all the time. Has anyone been able to get over the river? Or had a London mission where they aren't stuck?
