just tried this really quick after digging out some Ubuntu version and it worked just fine for me. You only need to enter the following commands in the terminal sudo add-apt-repository ppa:knapsu/openxcom sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install openxcom and copy game data folder into the openxcom folder $HOME/.local/share/openxcom/data

I've never done it before but if you dont mind playing it via "Open XCOM" you can get install instructions for ubuntu, debian etc. on their downloads page
