  1. just dont have a man on either side of the door, cuz they will auto shot kill the alien and then kill each other. or at least my men do.
  2. Machine guns rock! the best thing about Apoc was giving a squad of men a machine gun in each hand, and put em on auto in real time. They never hit anything, but it sure did look cool
  3. Must be all the time it takes to prepare the in-flight movie. That and replacing the sick bags, all my guys were complete panzies.

    i kept on seeing the adds in my pc gamer and pc attack (poms may remeber that ace magazines) and was hooked just on the adds (hypothermia can kill you in 15 minutes, if your lucky) But then in about 96 or 97 went on a holdiday to Bali (Australia is cool we live near lots of south east asian countries, where there seems to be quite a lot of vidio piracy) and bought a dodgy cd with about 60 games on it and one was UFO enemy unknown, hte rest is history. man i think i played that game all through year 6 and 7 before getting bored of it.

  6. are we including ufo's? there sort of enemies as well. cuz in apoc, the bloody ufo's r impossible to kill. My troops take on the aliens in terror missions with ease (give em a machine gun in each hand and 10 clips of ammo, line up a couple soliors and watch the bullets fly) but my hawk air warriors get blasted when they try take on those alien assult ufo's (i think thats what there called,)

Hey, all i was postying this cuz passing ufo even on superhuman isnt that hard. but i read this guys page, (i cant remember the name unfortunantly) that he set himself the challenge of destroying a whole snakeman base using only one soldior who can be given any armor, but can only be given pistols (laser or plasma or otherwise) and grenades (can pick up more of dead aliens), OR a psi amp and no other offensive weapons. He said he had only passed this challenge a few times. I thought it was kinda intresting but unfortunantly in my game i have no alien bases yet and so cant try it, but is anyone else up for the challenge?

Hey all again. i was wondering whats so great aboutblasters? in all the posts people often talk about the use of blasters in certain situations i mean i know there v powerfull and all but i always found they were more of a hinderance than an asset. For example they slow your men down, they destroy a hell of a lot of allien artiffacts that u can sell to make money, and most of all they create that annoying 'smoke' that makes it hard to spot aliens through and means you have to wait for it to clear or go around it. do people really find blasters so indespensible? i find that the greatest advantage x-com agents have over aliens is that they are able to bring the firepower of many agents to bear on one poor alien. the use of blasters obscures your agents veiw of aliens and makes it hard to spot them. Aliens on the other hand often only have single aliens (or pairs) around the map and seem to be able to use psi attacks and grenades even though they cant 'see' you. does everyone bring blasters to every mission or do they only bring them to alien bases and v.large ufos ( i use them on these occasions myself sometimes)
  10. Hey all. I havnt played UFO for about four years, but then i was just browsing the net and found this site and it got me playing again. So having said that i was just curious, how long do you guys rekon it takes to pass UFO. Please dont get me wrong i REALLY dont want to start a 'bragging' post, but i remember being able to pass UFO on superhuman in less than one game year. Is this about right? or do i remember wrong? (quite possible)

I just use the default weapons for the inteceptors untill i research the ;laser cannons (no ammo to worry about), then i give my interceptors two each. i keep them armed like this for the rest of the game. if a big ufo comes along which i cannot shoot down i just tail it with an interceptor, wait for it to land then sent in the troops

I was just curios what everyone equipted there troops with in UFO. personally i favor the 'Red Army" aproach that is i bring as many troopsas (all recruits with no armor) as i can in my interceptor and give them ALL a laser rifle and two alien grenades, then i form a defensive circle around the interceptor and sent out men from the craft 2 at a time to find the aliens until the mission is over. Variations on this theme include also giving all them men a stun rod aswell (when attacking large ufos and bases) and sometimes bringing a high ranking officer along, and just leave them in the interceptor (for moral purposes, [may or may not have any effect]). Note my men die like buggery but they are cheap (only 20 thousand) much cheaper than giving them hvy plasma rifles (which i sell, do build more bases, and interceptors and men with laser rifles).
