The Perfect fleet

What's you favorite fleet? I found the perfect fleet for me. I have 10 hoverbikes with laser

cannons (at the most aggresive setting) with 5 hawks armed with retribution missile launches, and the big

plasma thingies(2nd most defenceive), 5 dimension probes with plasma defence thingies(at maximum agressiveness, to blow up missiles)

5 probes with multi-plasma systems(maximum aggresiveness) 10 probes with light beam things (maximum aggressiveness)

13 hoverbikes with small plasma things(at 2nd most agressiveness) and 2 hoverbikes with large plasma things(at the 2nd most defenceive setting) This was able to destroy 2 fast attack ships and 2 destroyers in 7 seconds game time.

I thought I should also mention how useful retribution missile launchers are, they reach all the way across the map!

(well not literally, but pretty close to it) and can actually hit someting and go right through it and hit what's behind it!!(Like a slum building or an alien probe or scout, the only problem is it needs to destroy what it hit first)

I just use a shit-load of Hawks untill I can get those dimension ships I'll buy however many Hawks I can every week. I have 1 Retaliator with Med beam and 2 Janitor missles, 5 Annihilators with Large beam, distruptor bombs, and stasis bombs. Per base. I usually manually control the Retaliator. Stasis bombs screw everything.

I can down an alien capitol ship in one salvo from my fleet, and then some. All you need is a lot of big ships with a lot of big guns! Before I got dimension ships, I'd just buy all the Hawks I was allowed every week and put a plasma array, Janitor, and Justice missle launcher on them.

How do you get the money for that? Even on the lowest difficulty I often have money problems until I get disruptor armor and shields, that way I don't have to stockpile equipment for all the replacements from devastators/poppers/hyperworms/brainsuckers. Stupid agents. Can't even hit a bloody brainsucker.

Raids, my boy! Endless raids on the CoS. Each of those Psiclones are $4500 each, and I usually get 3-5 every raid, in addition to all the other goodies I get. Since I keep track of what buildings aliens land at, I react immediately and kill them before they can spread, I have the rest of the day to conduct raids. I usually do 5-10 raids a day, depending on how many soldiers are injured, and I always buy more soldiers than I need, so that I can have enough for raids if any get injured.

Try and get in hostile terms with one of the gangs. The slums can sometimes hold up to 8 psiclones if you're lucky. Psyke or Osiron are good enemies. If you somehow make an enemy of solmine, you can still get elerium from them by raiding them and getting the little elerium pods that they so carelessly leave about.

But don't raid too much if you're behind on your research. Score triggers alien tech, and if you're not ready for the next bit of alien tech, it'll be rather difficult.

To buy all those extra hawks early on but not raise your score too much, buy and sell Stormdogs and any other vehicle you don't plan to use. Buy them, strip them apart and sell the parts separately. Try to hoard the anti-airguard cannon bullets that come with the Stormdogs for a few weeks before selling them off to take advantage of their initial price. They're a major cash boost (and will give back almost as much as you spent on buying the Stormdogs in the first place).

As for my perfect fleet. Early on, it's a few hawk air warriors with hoverbike escorts. Later, as soon as I can get a few inter-dimensional aircraft that can arm at least one medium disrupter beam each and a few small shields, the alien armada is toasted on their own home-turf. The annihilators are merely a convenience, but well worth getting once available to conduct weekly patrols in the alien dimension.

I have my perfect fleet when each of my bases count two Annihilators (armed with 1 large disruption beam and 2 medium(I don't like to produce missiles)) and at least one Retaliator(armed with 3 medium disruption beam). I always use at least two Biotrans(1 small disruption beam, 2 small shields,2 cargos, 2 bio-transports and 2 passenger modules) for my city's and Alien dimension's missions. I don't care for the other and it's the best thing it could happen to me because I can't buy any good vehicles (all from MarSec) because there hostile to me, but if you have your self-constructed vessels, you're ok. :)

At the beginning of the game I go for speed and evasion but later on I don't see the point. So when I start off with a hoverbike swarm I end up with my four Annihilators. The way I see it, who cares about not getting hit when you can take on the whole city and not lose a single ship anyway?
