Having reached version 1.10 earlier this year, we find the famed 2D turn-based strategy game The Battle for Wesnoth remains in good health, bringing ever more reasons to smile for fans of the genre, entirely free of charge.

 

As we discovered, a veritable slew of improvements and refinements were introduced in just about every area of the game in the aforementioned latest stable version, including changes and enhancements to existing campaigns as well as delivering a new campaign:

(...) Dead Water, has been introduced; in it, you play as a young merman who is the heir to his kingdom's throne; your task is to repel an undead invasion and to save your people.

Last I played, it was quite good but the battles had very definite 'correct' solutions.

Version 1.11.1 is now out with plenty of changes.
