Welcome to Mars. I cold, barren, dying world.

After a ten day journey, the first pod enters the Earth's atmosphere.

https://img805.imageshack.us/img805/4355/wowmartianintro16.jpg

A crowd of human vermin has gathered to view the crash sight.

These hideous creatures are cleansed.

https://img824.imageshack.us/img824/7253/wowmartianintro18.jpg

Then, the Fighting Machines are assembled.

https://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9453/wowmartianintro19.jpg

And our forces advance on human military positions.

https://img541.imageshack.us/img541/6351/wowmartianintro20.jpg

Though our forces are technologically superior, we seem to have underestimated their numbers.

Contact has been lost with the first pod!

A more secure location to base our forces is selected.

Seems that youtube doesn't like that the soundtrack to the game is copy-written. So if you live in Germany, the videos will likely be blocked to you. Everywhere else should be fine.

Ok, back to the game. This is the very beginning where the remaining pods were redirected from the London area to Scotland. Each day, another randomly drops into a sector. This playthrough I think I have gotten the oddest placement of forces ever. 3 Handling Machines drop into the same sector. Another pod with a unit of Scout Machines and a Digging Mechanism drops into another sector where they can't retreat. A word about movement in this game: You can only travel between sectors if at least one of them has a command center, and you have to have a Handling Machine to build those. So those units that dropped into Sector 10 are screwed since I'd have to build a command center in an adjacent sector to get them out.

Even the great Martian races of our time have trouble with organisation it seems :P Look on the bright side though at least they hit the right country. Too far either side and you'd have landed in the drink :) Good luck with the playthrough, will be watching!

We begin with the forces that dropped into Sector 10. They manage to take out the Human command center and some lorries that are defending it. These early battles are heavily biased in our favor due to technology, but the Humans will quickly advance and start fielding primitive tanks. Our 3 Scout Machines hold out against another wave of 5 lorries and we keep the sector. If only the Handling Machine in Sector 9 had come here, we would have had a hope of making this position permanent and have reinforcements moving down here on the English border... but it didn't happen that way and our forces in Sector 9 come under attack from a single naval unit and there's nothing we can do, retreat isn't possible so we march our units at the ship and hope to damage it as much as possible before we are defeated.

With the mines I stop when it goes below 10 units added usually.

As for strategy, I like to keep my forces together and gang up on smaller groups of enemies. The more fire I can get on them, the faster they die and the less damage they can do to me. Air units are useful for knowing where to go. Usually I can find a weak spot in defenses with them when I'm going to take out a command center.

The 3 Scout Machines keep holding onto their LZ. Two more waves of Humans are repelled. But our heroes finally fall to a final wave of enemy units. With nothing left to do, our Digging Mechanism charges into a group of lorries and dies.

I have to keep something new coming out every day, and the newest thing I'm working on now took 3 tries due to buggy recording software not recording the sound. I had about 90min or recording that only yielded about 7min of usable video, so I split 2 and 3 into separate days. I reinstalled it tonight, so hopefully it's fixed now since I have about 15min that I just tested on and it recorded sound to the end *crosses fingers*

We finally get our economy churning and actually build something at greater than 25% efficiency. Each new command center that comes online gives more resources to the neighboring sectors and allows us to march another sector into Human territory. Eventually our Handling Machines are all building constructors and repair facilities, the resource shortage mostly behind us. By the end of this installment, we have basically taken Scotland from the Humans. Even the might of the British Navy cannot drive the Martian juggernaut from her shores.

We invade northern England finally. This time we don't just "luckily" fall into it and get slaughtered though. We bring Fighting Machines and slaughter the puny Humans. This sector is usually the one where the front ends up for a while, and whoever holds it gets a lot of resources from it. In the case of the Martians, it's heavy elements, for the Humans, I believe coal.

On a more boring note, we complete several vehicle factories up north so that we aren't stuck using the huge horde of Scout Machines that we brought from Mars. With the Handling Machines then moving south to build on the English border to build command centers, we should have resources to spare for our war machine.

Ok, before the power goes out here, here's the next installment:

Hordes of Fighting Machines mass in Edinburgh for a push down the east coast of northern England. We march on a heavily defended sector. The sector is taken with few machines lost. All but one unit take heavy damage and have to withdraw for repairs. Our 2 reserve units that were being repaired from early move up to reinforce the sector from Human attacks. Next stop: Liverpool. Maybe we can take out that shipyard and slow down their production of ships. :P

It is a shame to AI is so poor. If he attacked with more units per wave things would be more interesting - right now it is slaughetr all round.

Are you going to storm them by Air ? So many suspention pods. I once did this tactic - I even gained 5-6 sectors :P

Yeah, they are a good skirmishing force and probably the best way of dealing with Self-propelled Guns since they can close the distance rapidly and cause most shots to miss. I can also stop Human ships from attacking me through the Isle of Man. The AI can build there, but I can't. Which sucks, because I could have an aerial invasion of Wales and Cornwall from there I believe.

We build up in southwestern Scotland. Before we start our invasion, we send a lone unit of Flying Machines to observe the Human vermin. They appear to have a well fortified position backed up by 3 ironclads off the coast. At the start of the second video, we begin out push down the west coast of England. We begin the mission by destroying the cannons in our vicinity, then going down the coast to take out the ironclads we IDed during out scouting. but it seems there is only one now. We take that out then push at the command center. It falls with minimal loses, but nearly all units have heavy damage and have to retreat to the rear for repairs. The rest of this installment is simply our forces holding ground against the Humans.

I hope to see a tempest and xenotelepath at least once :P. It will be awsome if you will show all of the martian units at work, though I think that bombardment machine and electric crab thing (forgot name) is useless.

Also you could do a mission comparing Tempest lvl3 vs Fighthing Machine lvl3 - just for laugh.

Martian defences I find useless. Now if humans bunker down with all their guns it is realy world of hurt :)

What funny is also, that when I played Martians and humans I also had same frontline borders for a while. Humans to bunker down, Martian to stage a proper assault.

I'll probably end up unlocking all of the tech at the very end after I've officially won. Probably save right before I invade London. Then reload the game from there so I can take over the whole map without recording everything that happens between there and getting all tech.

We build, we scout, we defend. In the rear even more repair facilities are being built. Hopefully 3 will work at a time, I've only ever built 2 in a sector at any given time. At the front, we send our unit of fliers around to figure out the best path of attack. On the inland sector, we're better off moving down the far left of the map then walking over and shooting over the fencing. With the coastal sector, we should walk down the shoreline, hit the ironclad that is guarding and then march on the command center. After our scouting missions, we have a major attack on the west coast as 15 ground vehicles and 3 ironclads try to force us out. The weak scout machines at wiped out but the fighting machines manage to hold the sector with none lost.

It cheats quite a lot. It either builds faster than you can, or it doesn't have to deal with resource shortages, I'm not sure which exactly. I'm not even sure it needs a construction vehicle in the sector before it starts to build things. I am pretty sure that I've been attacked from sectors that I cleared out then retreated from within 20 days of the AI taking back over it.

But it still cheats poorly. From all the attacks he made it was like 3 units ? (not counting Ironclads).

For now only Ironclads can make a dent in you force. Though still AI dosen't use them to full extend.

In my old playthroughs AI sometimes attacked me with 5 of them, where player can use only 3 per sector :P

Ok, after about a week of not playing I have 55min uploading now. The Humans appear to be getting better weapons. Probably their lvl 2 units. Our fighting machines are actually dying in battle now. They also appear to be cheating with their unit selection. They can suddenly change from the usual track-layer/cannon waves to huge hordes of anti aircraft guns as soon as I bring in fliers. Whether they are actually making these things, or they just randomly receive them for battle is beyond me, but I swear that they are cheating! Seriously, I have never managed the huge hordes of naval and anti aircraft units that they are using when I have played as Human. :P
