Got the save and didnt get to do much in the geo (started off some more power suits, and watched a supply ship dock at the base in india), Didnt take long before i get a pop up for a terror mission in london, as its late ill do that tomorrow.

 

Dispatched the rookies from orchard and their kidneys of explosivness to deal, but hoping for something easy :s

We will certainly need to make up for the points to keep the sponsors happy, but I say that was a good mission Lysear.

 

Well, okay most of the civilians were lost, but the squad came home with most of their members and limbs intact, and some loot on the side.

Good work man, nice mission! Rookies with pistols at a terror site is always going to be hard but you even managed to save two of the stupid civvies with only 10 men! Very well handled and a nice read to boot :) I think Igor should become your little avatar as I think it'll be a shame to lose him from the squad after all that excitement lol

Yeah but i have 2 men that im partial too atm (again.. that didnt sound right at all ><), Igor and Patrick lol (may shift patrick to orchard to have them team up next time :) if they manage to live until then, and once orchard gets power armour then ill be looking forward to having some engagements with some mutons, wish i could get close and pistol whip them lol

Just a note, Mutons average about two rockets each to kill. Although they don't look it, Ethereals will eat similar levels of damage - don't let TFTD lull you into a false sense of security, even if they didn't have the highest psi power stat out of all races, their other stats aren't to be sniffed at either! (And their terror units are quite lethal, too!)

 

Now that the watchpost is properly defended (... or, well, just "defended" at least), I probably should've ordered a hyper-wave module for it. Didn't occur to me at the time.

Fireworks looks like a rather specialist team to command! Think I may request a transfer over to Orchard once it's all up and running again, I liked the pistol and nade setup we started with :) Good work though dude, would've been a great score without the friendly fire lol

I really should give the Fireworks team a spin. Don't think I've tried them yet.

 

The Mutons do get ripped to shreds with AP rounds in the intro, but the ironic thing is that they're also one of the most resistant race to AP rounds (they tie top spot with the zombies). Better HE than AP against them any day. Got to remember that next time I pack the Fort. Cannon Skyranger.

Yeah I know... Sorry guys, feel free to skip me if you like. I've really not been feeling the vibe for my mission this week (and having done the TFTD one early as well has kinda thrown me :)) I'm busy tomorrow anyway so if anyone is desperate to continue then by all means do. Otherwise, give me a little longer and I'll do it when I can :P

I'll take my turn then - been itching to make up for my last one. You can always jump back in or take a double turn later on if you like.

 

Also, not to sound complacent, but does the TFTD game feel like it's easier compared to this one? I know the limited weapon theme is adding to the challenge, but I've been finding this game much harder.

I have the same feeling that TFTD is somewhat easier. Maps in TFTD are bigger thus there are no crampy situations like in UFO and there are plenty of situations to snipe. Although strangely here we have plenty of bases while there we have like 2 and only one battle ready.

Just finished the mission moments ago, and I got my revenge. Orchard team vs. Muton Terror Ship. Unfortunately now I have to think up yet another Krumpet relative. Even with a power suit I guess an untested new guy really doesn't last too long with a heavy plasma to the face. :P Next time I'll start off with personal armour and work up from there.

 

Will post the report up shortly. But do have to say the pistol/grenade crew did fairly well against them.

Cyberdiscs alone are more of a challenge then most TFTD aliens. We hit psi much earlier, as the Sectoids stick around longer then Aquatoids, and plasma weapons have auto-fire capabilities.

 

We'd probably be finding things easier if I hadn't lost that first base, though. That more or less limited us to cannons for a while, and they're mostly rubbish.

 

On the flip side, we've got more research subjects then we know what to do with. Pretty much everything we need to win the game already.

Didnt think pistols would bring muties down so quickly (thought we would be looking at 8-10 hits or so before they would drop), nice mission NKF :P

 

Will give it til tuesday for Vet to drop back in to the line-up (if he wishes) then ill take my turn, been rather hectic working week so far, so havent had much time to do anything but tuesday is a day off weeeeeeee

Very good mission indeed NKF (though you did call some of the Silacoids Celatids many times lol) and I appreciate that Lysear, I'll try and play through a level tomorrow to save falling too far out of the line up. I haven't forgotten about our TwoSides game either but I'm trying to polish off some of my new titles this week lol (1 down 8 to go!)

Dang - I was mind probing them on occasion too just to get the names right. Always get those two mixed up! :P (edit: ah, was just the last two Silacoids when raiding the Terror Ship that I got mixed up. Fixed)

 

But yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the pistols did against them all things considered. They're tough but apart from AP resistance, they don't have any other resistances like the Lobsterman.

 

The only thing that we might have some trouble fighting are the Sectopods. Only 1 of our 3 assault bases is going to have any chance against them.

Thanks Lysear, was pretty happy with just 2 casualties and very happy that neither was me! Was SO lucky that we took them by surprise. When Olga burst in I think they were rather expecting it lol We could use better HWD coverage though as I'd never have sent the cannon team in if I'd known they'd be mutons :P

All done for me, nice and quick :P i always seem to get floaters on my go lol, guess they just love me :), almost out of plasma pistol clips at orchard and not enough laser pistols to cover the whole squad. The 9mm ones dont pack enough of a punch and have no burst for those close quarter encounters. Maybe get a few more and ship em over?

The basic pistols being present at Orchard were my fault - 'cause I like em. :P Also because they'll be useful when combined with power suits when fighting against psi enemies to cut down taking damage from 'friendly fire'.

 

But yeah, definitely build and send some extra laser pistols or invest a bit of elerium and manufacture some plasma clips.

 

Having all the floaters in the medium scout looking away, by the way, was a brilliant stroke of luck.

Awesome, no sooner had I finished reading Lysears mission than I get the honour of being the first to share BBs :) Good work guys, I guess we're making up the time it took for me to take my turn now eh? lol BB what happened to that scout? I don't think I've ever seen one that battered before! I guess you didn't get any elerium :P

No more elerium. :P But now that I actually check, I see Fireworks/Orchard have about 180 units all up that could be sent to Cannon...

 

All teams are quite well equipped now, though some flying suits would really solidify things. :)

 

Forgot to mention, the scout I shot down was on a base building mission. Next Commander may want to scout the crash site in a couple of days, see if anything turns up.
