Interesting article. I wonder how much of it will come true and whether the algorithms could lead to actual AI. Which I definitely hope we never achieve.

 

@SV: it's what we more readily think of, isn't it? Self-aware AI. But we'll have problematic episodes well before that. The extent of reliance upon any automated system that is essentially treated like a black box by us (i.e. "it just works") will make us less likely to think about what it is we're using before we use something going forward.

VERY true. I was stunned by the readiness to NOT understand what goes on under the hood. In essence, there are still deterministic laws governing the algorithms (as far as I know) so things should be clear and predictable, however hard to calculate.
