Hunt Valley no more

Argh ! The alleged curse of X-Com strikes again. The Hunt Valley team who were once (many moons ago) to have brought us X-Com Alliance (and who did bring us X-Com Enforcer) have been laid off, after completing Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes.

Here's a news link. "Atari's VP of corporate communications, confirmed that the offices had been shut down today and that the entire staff of 35 had been let go. According to Bushkin, Hunt Valley, which was being managed by Atari for Infogrames, simply ran out of work - the studio most recently finished up work on D&D Heroes. With no additional work in the near future, Atari decided that it was the right thing to close the studios' doors."

Let's hope the gang find new jobs quickly and find a more stable company than Microprose/ InfoGranny/ Atari/ whateveritisthisweek.

Two points worth making;

1. Sacked before christmas? Thats the shits.

2. Enforcer was a decent game. You try working on Alliance for a year then being told its on hold and you have 6 months to build a new game from scratch on an engine you`ve never seen before. The guys did what they could in the constraints they were given, believe me.
