Importing New Character Models into Game

Has anyone managed to import new character models into the game? I've managed to use the Silent Storm editor and Maya 6.0 to import back a mesh vertex-edited version of the original human model made by the developers of Silent Storm. However, when I use a new mesh and attach it to the original skeleton and import the model into the editor I get an error about a shader not having an attribute called "materialindex". How do I fix this?

 

Is there a guide/tutorial about importing models?
