That one is pretty good - with the elite soldier pack - who knows :P

I see what you did there, a fellow Lovecraft reader

I am truly envious of the talent behind all that artwork, superb!

I maybe not but I very like this too.

Sort of Fan Art, a RL X-COM rookie:

Me as an X-COM soldier at Salt Lake City Comic Con. I did not have enough time to make sure my hair stayed up so it kind of lost some of the effect. While the soldiers in game do not have any facial hair there is one in the manual that does. Taken by KingKaden211.

So funny! thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

Hello, all I thought I show up with some xcom material most from the remake and one from nostalgia days.

I got round to doing art from last year, just doing some one off ideas about detailing game over scenarios. Which led to this piece.

Next two are something of a two parter, first image played on the idea on what might have happened to vahlen when we learnt originally she 'vanished' Also I was inspired by baylon 5 episode intersections in real time which is still one of my favourite sci-fi episodes.

Which led to the one below.

Biggest challenge was the civ clothing and the colouring effect amidst the glass, I may or may not ex[and these two ideas but I have fun doing over time.

And as for the 'nostalgia'

Yes I managed to lose no civilians in March because the floaters were so stupid!!!

Tried to give the 'brain' expressions...didn't quite work out.

5 civilians and only 12 aliens? Something is not right here. My best run was somewhere on TFTD island attack. From something 10+ civilians only 1 died and had more aliens. I was pretty amazed by that achievement. And as for the art, not bad. Why so much hatred against Dr. Vahlen

The terror mission (no deaths at that stage) was a fluke of the highest order, this was just before March and only had two guys fitted with laser rifles. It's no secret floaters are by far the easiest foe to face given they have no concealment, they move about but because they do so whilst levitating they leave themselves far more exposed then any other primary alien. I was upto turn 12 (just hunting that last alien) and there was a reaper in a warehouse, it clearly just stood there the entire time because if it bothered to move to the other side of the crates it would had found two civs! How many civs should be on a terror mission at superhuman because 5 civs did look a bit low.

As for vahlen, I have to admit I have got one or two comments about that if I have something against her, and the truth is I don't, I just simply looked at the worst case scenario for each characters for the 'game over' folder at the time and realised that there is simply more consequence for vahlen given her role as a interrogator.

If Shen was the interrogator and MIA then I would be doing the same for him. Out of the three Vahlen is the one where her activity inbetween the game events is mostly incomplete, as well as her background. For someone like me who thrives on speculation it's an opportunity. I got inspiration for this from one of earlier shows Babylon 5 episode 'intersections in real time' where the main is subjected to mind games which is similar to this.

I had shen and Bradford's in mind but 'showtrial' pic took nearly as long as my elsa vs maleficent picture that I fell behind on comic schedule so I stopped with vahlen, and ultimately I decided I might as well recycle those ideas for something else.

Up to 14 civilians and something 16-20 aliens on superhuman terror mission is about right numbers. So you've got less than 50%, which is sort of lucky.

And about Vahlen, I think in XCOM2 Bradford said, that se lives, but her whereabouts are unknown. I think he also said she had a lab somewhere remote that was invaded?

It's a fluke no doubt about that as I played that terror mission last year and is the first I had no civ deaths (though isn't there a bug where superhuman difficulty is reset to beginner level? Sorta sliding off topic here but thought I get this question out of the way) Either way am not sure why the game would generate that number of enemies and civs which is lower then you stated.

When I learnt vahlen had her own volcanic base in the book my eyes did roll a little over that james bond cliché, and there was barely anything except she suddenly had a base. Though she had merits and a plan (as opposed to Bradford boozing nearly 20 years straight and suddenly rides into his central position after everyone has done all the hard work!) but that was much preferred then all the 'traitor' speculation at the time and both pics were done in the early days even when there was speculation that vahlen had a holiday home you visit. Seeing a pic in the game with notes scrawled 'vahlen' does imply she might be on the sliding scale of sanity, be she DLC or sequel material is anyone's guess..

The difficulty bug is not fixed in the dos version from steam. I think it is fixed with the CE Version? More accurate answer from such behawior proabably can be answered by NKF, Hoobes or Tycho, maybe Zombie and Bomb Bloke too, they are far into the guts of X-COM.

I'm sort of still want to believe that there will be DLC that where Vahlen will return probably as mission giver or something.

Yes, the difficulty bug was fixed in CE. The PSX version was also fixed. I'm unsure of v1.4 though (haven't thoroughly tested it). ;)
