I think Afterlight will have less bugs than the previous games, as they have had a stable and good development cycle this time around. That being said, it's probably better safe than sorry :)

Definitely no StarForce this time around, Matri. :)

No. Secure or something. And there's something else again for the digital download from Sprocket I think.

Well my overall impressions are positive, but still, I'd say I'm one of the many "enthusiasts" that can bare with some pretty bad flaws just to play something that's even remotely close to classics like x-com or jagged alliance. :)

For instance, Altar' still obviously don't know (or mind) all that much about how to design a good user interface and how information flow really should be working. Even I, with the little knowledge that I've gathered at the University's basic courses, can tell pretty easily what's wrong and what shouldn't have been.

But I can live with all that, as long as it's enjoyable and doesn't crash on me :)
I can live with all that as long as the game is enjoyable, doesn't crash, and doesn't take long minutes to load even the crappiest-designed battlescape scenario.

SecuROM, mighty fine choice.

It is insidious, though. Besides the initial CD check, there are a few hundred other hooks embedded into the main EXE file, periodically checking the disc again while the game is running. If it fails, it'll screw your game up so bad. All in all, a much better choice than StarForce.

Securom has been cracked all the way though, but that's another story :)

Yes but the thing is, you can never be absolutely certain all of the hooks have been removed. If the initial CD check has been cracked, the game will still run. The rest of the hooks will just have to make your gaming experience a living hell.

That's insidiousness-ess-ouss... Or however you spell it. :)

How can that be a bot? The post was both beneficial and informative, which we know is far beyond our current level of bot technology.
