Great game; shama about the bugs

Well I played all weekend, really enjoying myself, lots of stuff to do, always more buildings to construct, stuff to plan.

Seems at the begining you struggle with resources, but a bit later with a little planning you have thousands of each. I like the fact you can't collect from every province, as it costs too much.

Best thing I think so far is that a balanced squad with several skills really pays off.

In every single other game I have played it is always worth finding the most broken weapon and training everyone in it and all having the same gear. But beccause the psionics that means it is possible to have a supporter as a specialised medic,

The Cyborgs are great for a machine gunner

And humans are great with their rifles. So you get a fantastic balanced squad that can deal with anything.

Most annoying thing so far: I decided to wipe out the cult. When I took their last province they got given 4 new ones (ok maybe I can handle that) 3 of them were my developed bases (I can't handle that!!!!!)

That was really annoying. I had to reload and pen the last cult territory in. I hope it isn't taken by the wargots.

Composing weapons and armour looks like it will give plenty of fun latter on into the game too.

Lots of Bugs too. Looks like it was rushed to production.

The Glosary is completely messed up with weapon compositions. It adds entries every single time you do anything. So there are lists of "Jack's gun" pages long

The equipment screen randomly (I think on reloads) empties my clips from the gun, or sometimes even leaves the gun behind in the stores.

The map twiddles round like a maniac sometimes when you come out of a base screen.

I got stuck in the landing pod once, and nobody could move.

Last but worst. Occasional crashes that kill even XP (something no program on my machine has done before). My bro thinks this is the stupid copy protection program.

sometimes even leaves the gun behind in the stores.

I've noticed this happen when I've customized the weapon, and have renamed it (as you are forced to do so).

I have no suggestion other to check and double check everyone's equipment upon mission launch.

Then again, after every mission I de-equip everyone anyway so I can take stock of what's available and ration out those precious reticulan power cells :)

Hah - yes, I've seen this too - sometimes it's nice and slow drift in from somewhere, othertimes it's like someone is spinning the world like a basketball. Either case - it's a very minor bug this one.

Other than that, I've only experienced the occasional crash (2, in about 70-80 hours of solid play) - and my reporting tools claim that Starforce drivers are failing. *shrug* I can deal with it, although obviously I'd prefer not to lose those precious minutes :P

Er, I can't remember the name of it now, but it's just some memory crash analysis which kicks in when my motherboard detects that its gone kaput. It's quite useful because it then triggers my VPU recover program and tries to shutdown all failed things. It's something that comes bundled with either ASUS or MSI motherboards, and as far as I know ownly works with them.

Useful when my Radeon locks up too in buggy 3d software :P

Two other bugs.

1) Did base defence against wargot. Appeared on pad for second part, immediately went to second part, then pressed play, and all aliens dead (i.e. there were none) so I won. 200xp each for that.

This happened on two occasions

2) Mission where cult were attacking a base. I had to protect the last marine that was there to defend the base. But he set up in the middle of loads of enemies and I set up in a room. By the time I was out of the room and the 3 cultists had been shot by my men, I lost the mission because they killed the character I could never ever reach!.

Luckily I've encountered only a couple bugs. The most notable one is the camera. Certain camera angles seem to prevent the white movement square from appearing, preventing you from moving. I had to abort a mission when I couldn't move around a sub-basement level to hunt monsters.

I still got experience but found nothing so it wasn't a total loss...

Argh!!!

Well having had the game cash about 4 times over the weekend, I thought that was bad, but acceptable as I was enjoying myself.

Now I have had it crash 5 times in an hour. This is sucky.

Edit:

Latest bug was that my entire squad started the mission with no guns. I thought it had done its usual remove an inventory item before the mission. But no. When I reloaded (after it crashed) I found it had removed ALL items from EVERYONE and destroyed them all. Including all armour and cybernetics.

With the graphics issues - can I suggest people turn off True Colour in the graphics settings. This is the difference between something like 16 million colours and 32 million colours - you WON'T see a difference apart froma performance increase.

Also, turning down some of the other graphics settings may stop so many crashes happening. It's worked for the equally system hungry Silent Storm games and I'm fairly confident it might fix a few problems mentioned here - maybe even the random shards (possibly something to do with shaders/shadows? Just a wild guess).

Well whatever it is that is causing it to crash is making it completely unplayable. IT has gotten more and more frequent the furthur into the game I have progressed. At the begining it was fine, now every other mission it will crash, and it will crash in geoscape randomly every so often.

Tried turnign on SW sound as it said on the Aftershock support board, but that didn't change anything.

Arghh. I just wanted to finish it. I must be nearly there. although I don't know what I need to build a space ship.
