Something funny about the flying island's name

Gullivers Travels was intended to be a satirical work on what Johnathon Swift saw as the evils of his day. The Laputans were his swipe at the advanced mathemetitions and philosophers, such as Isaac Newton. He regarded these people as being too concerned with advanced science and not interested in its practical application to improve everyday life for the people.

The Laputan leaders in in the years between Aftershock were corrupt and oppressive, perhaps they were also so obsessed with conducting the experiments that they simply didn't care about the plight of their citizens as well.

However, Swift was also a confirmed woman hater, and he was frequently critical of women in Gullivers Travels - it wasn't just the everyday sexism of his era. It is possible that he deliberatly chose the name Laputa as an insult to women as he seems to have regarded them all has having the same moral standards as a prostitute.

The conspiracy deepens :D
