sigget
The best resource is fnurg's modding guide, available in the mods section. Also try to download some of the mods from that page and have a look at how they do it.

Llama8
If you already know all this then I apologise: 1)Firstly Vfstool is run in dos from your UFO:Aftermath directory, so unzip it there.2)If you want to export (all the) files from the gamedata.vfs file this is wht you need to type in: vfstool e gamedata.vfs unpacked, after making an unpacked sub-directory. This may take a while, but it is unpacking several gig's worth of files...3)If you've moded a file (say listofweapon.vfs), create a directory with a name like changed, then recreate the directory structure that listofweapon.vfs is found in, so in this example that would be: (ufo aftermath directory)\Changed\tactical\configs\game and then place the modified file there.4)To import your modified file into gamedata.vfs type the following: vfstool in gamedata.vfs changed This will then import all the files in the changed directory with the directory structure (which is important). Hope this helps.
Fnurg
I'll add a mod compilation guide asap. I'm currently working on a frontend gui thingy to help with building patches. Nothing great but it should tie us over till some better/official tools come out
