Cant run UFO or TFTD with XP

I have origianl versions of UFO & TFTD circa 1996, have just got a new PC with XP installed & when i try to load/play the screen keeps minimising- can anyone out there offer any help?

You will need a copy of DosBox (free download)

 

then install the game entirely to the hard drive. (this is done by creating a folder and copying the _entire_ cd to the hard drive via drag and drop."

 

Download and apply any patches. (if your UFO is the original UFO:EU then you will need both 1.2 and 1.4) (and dont for get the "beta geoscape" for TFTD)

 

start dosbox and map the drive you install to using "mount c c:\" (if the drive is c)

then go to theat direcotry and run "setup" to configure the sound card using soundblaster with the default selections.

 

for TFTD you also need to run "cdspeed c:" to turn on the movies.

 

then start the game and usle CTRL+F12 and CTRL+F11 to adjust the speed. I recomend atleast 9000 cycles, but if you go to slow or to fast the sound get's choppy.
