Yes I understand that steam takes 30%, and Epic takes like what 5%? 12%? but that's sort of breaking the promise.If not Steam than GoG. In general people don't like/trust Epic Game Store. Here's an excerpt from an article at Eurogamer where Julian addresses the subject: Gollop apologised to upset backers. "For those backers who are upset by our switch of delivery platform, we are truly sorry," he said. "It was not our intention to scam anyone. The best we can do is offer compensation in the form of free extra content, which we will deliver throughout the launch year. This will include at least three major DLC packs. They will also receive a Steam key or GOG key, in addition to their Epic key, at the end of the exclusivity period. If they are not happy with this, we will give a full refund." :: It's at least a modicum of compensation. Beyond that, let's face it, money talks and Epic is doing what it needs to do to make its store increasingly appealing to both developers and potential customers. silencer_pl Posted March 21, 2019 Report Share Posted March 21, 2019 Right now only appealing to developers. There is too much stuff going against Epic Store from customer perspective. I also seen people defending EGS with (Steam was like this at the start). But Steam did not have illegal practices. The best example how to enter market in this age showed GoG. Doesn't create exclusivity (except maybe for old games), there are no issues with hacked accounts or sniffing private data.Thankfully Epic Launcher will not be required for Pheonix Point, and this only keeps me from not refunding.
