openXcom and prox mine vertical sensitivity

Alright...so proximity mines are intended not to go off when approached vertically downwards.

 

NOT true in openXcom. I just had one blow when going to disarm the thing (I.e grab it and toss it where it might do some damage to a useful target, that is to say, using a muton's face to disarm the thing:P)

 

But on sending a trooper in a flight suit to drop down and retrieve the mine the thing blew. No harm done, because of the armor, not a scratch on it, or the soldier inside. But it still did blow.

 

Probably a good idea I post this here in case others don't know about it, and especially if anyone ever tries to send a more lightly armored trooper to jump down off the top of a building, or something similar on top of the mine in order to perform EOD.
