Alien re-animation zones (base)

Recommended Posts

I just learned that its possible to open up the large purple colored tanks that serve the function of reanimating aliens stored deep-frozen in their cryostat chambers. Just read of it minutes ago so haven't had the opportunity to test this, but is it possible to dump a stunned

soldier in there and use their facilities to revive the downed trooper?

Has anybody ever tried it? Presumably it may well not be at all common knowledge either way, because just going from my own experience I did not even know they could open at all, let alone weather or not they are usable for restoring unconscious soldiers to awakened status again.

Wouldn't be all that daft a feature to have coded in to base assaults, considering just how many bugs, and at that, the hard cases and real nasty customers one has to contend with. And the fact that most of them that carry weapons tend to be packing shock cannons, at least later on in a campaign, its hell trying to revive a downed agent with medkits, if the cause is being hit with one of those rounds. At least tanks can be used to draw shock launcher fire and drain the enemy of ammunition but even one stunned soldier generally means a tactical retreat to the exit point in order to dump the body and the soldier's hardware, and then returning to the fight with the rest of the squad, less a three man fireteam and a heavy weapons specialist IF one can be spared, depends who has what loadout. Although there are usually at least two carrying hydrojet cannons and two packing DPLs, one carrying a gas cannon. Not got research done on the DPL or its ammunition yet though, the sooner the better, because the men only have basic plastic aqua armor. Full complement of handheld sonic weaponry, including grenades, capability of using TSCs but critical shortage of reloads, in fact the men blew their last round taking down a gill man techie, that after all turned out to be completely unarmed, no firearms no grenades not so much as a green pair of kecks, took the bug down alright, but there was nothing gained. So I had one of the stronger aquanauts carry the unconscious gill man up to the top of the decks, the captain's

control room, blew out a section of window and threw the KO'ed gill man off the top for wasting one of only three rounds apiece carried by the two stun-gunners, they only had two spare reloads and a round each in the breech. Then had another squad member drag the stunned greenskin over to the second floor deck and throw him down, smack, bang, whack onto the ground level to land with a bone-crunching wallop upon the smoking, blazing remains of a bunch of fuel drums which had within a short time previously; been ground zero for the detonation of multiple gas canisters courtesy of a pair of gas cannon rounds, high explosive and incendiary (I very rarely ever, ever at all either buy or equip GC/AP bolts other than the small handful of freebies from the council of funding nations, like the hydrojet cannon, the torpedo launcher (which does still fimited use as a dedicated weapon, the shooter carrying a further three torpedoes and either no sidearm bar a thermal tazer and maybe a lightweight sdearm

Extremely unlikely I think, though it would be amazing if it were true. The game has many suggested and promised features that weren't delivered in the rush to market. I'm not sure I've ever heard of the opposite, an undiscovered feature.

How do you open the tanks? I'm guessing,.. firepower? :-)

It HASN'T happened. I do not make that claim. I have as yet not had the time.

I read on ufopaedia (site, not in game) that they can be opened like doors. It simply struck me as such an odd thing to even have TRIED, to open one, because they just don't really jump out in one's face as being anything like seeming to be something open-able. I simply have read earlier that they can be opened and entered.

Wouldn't be the first time if its possible. But I have NOT tried it and as YET cannot provide a screenshot, the bugs recently constructed base no.1, only to lose it within the time it took X-com forces to insert a HEAVILY armed rapid response strike team plus a coelacanth tank for scouting and taking point, so as to make itself the prime target for drawing out any tentaculats that happen to get it into their......???head???s to try attacking, so the sniper with each fireteam can take them down, assisted if needed be by the heavy weapons/demo expert while the gunners open fire with conventional sonic weaponry, grenades and attack with tazers or drills if needs be, or fire from the heavy weapons brought on the dropship/anything that can be picked up on the way.

But inasmuch as those chambers open, there IS a screenshot of them doing so on the ufopaedia site.

Question-I do not know how it is done. So, how can I myself take a screencap if and more likely WHEN I get the chance.

The bugs will have to create another base first, because they had no longer than the transit time of a troop transport from its X-com base to reaching the alien facility before said base was blown into low earth orbit, in a billion tiny fragments. It is not MY claim that they do open, it is that of the UFOpaedia site. Reading this prompted my enquiry as to weather once opened, which in and of itself that screenshot on ufopaedia, if the veracity of the animated picture can be taken as truthful on trust, which I think reasonable, for logically if this claim were to be made for the purpose of a spurious claim, then the person or people responsible for doing so, would go further than merely making and uploading a screenshot. They would also almost certainly have made the additional claim of success in reviving a stunned aquanaut this way. I not only do not lay claim to this, I emphatically deny it. I have NOT done this, nor indeed, do I even lay claim to having opened one. I did not know one COULD do so, not until early in the morning today.

And I just woke up again between 10-20 minutes previous to writing this post, just enough time to go take a slash, open a cold beer and type this post.

Before that I was lying on the sofa, having been put into a deep, deep sleep by means of morphine/oxycodone and an analog of the chlo®methiazole I take for seizure

prophylaxis )

So, I just haven't had time to try and fake the ufopaedia pic. Not to mention that I'm not only useless at graphics design, I don't even have the sort of software I'd need. Not entirely sure what it is, for that matter.

It's true! This link

https://www.ufopaedia...-animation_Zone

has this text

"As seen in alien bases. Possible to open it and walk inside."

And even has the animated image of the unit opening and closing.

https://www.ufopaedia.org/images/8/8c/Reanimation_Zone_-_Alien_Base.gif Watch in awe, feeble humans, as I embed this graphic!!! Truly our alien power is beyond what you can imagine! Bwah ha hahah!

Thank you^

Now all that remains to be seen is if an agent can walk inside with a stunned fellow trooper, drop them in there for a turn and see if their stun level either declines or is completely restored back to consciousness, because damned if those alien thermal shock cannons aren't bloody effective in what they do. Plenty of times I've seen

a single round KO not just one but an entire group of lobstermen standing close together from just a near miss. Given how damned tough as hell those beastly things are

(this is an alien that commonly stays standing after a direct hit from a disruptor pulse round for chrissakes! they are tanks given feet, not just mere bugs! and will take one

HELL of a beating before they finally go down for good)

I think it may be a while before the bugs build another base in my current campaign because of how the last one, their first base was wiped out by a rapid-response strike force before the USOs that built it even had time to clear the area, several of them being shot down as they attempted to disperse by barracudas from two X-com bases. They did manage to get several really big craft out of the area, but not without all but the battleship and if present, dreadnoughts being given a serious bloody nose, and managed to flee, albeit badly damaged,

So if anybody else can try it out before me, do so. Right now I'm busy fighting it out in a lobsterman terror site, so it'll be a while anyway even if

the aliens DO manage to scrape together the resources to build a new base before I am able to check this out. The bugs seem like they are

really REALLY pissed off right now, and frankly given the beating they just had handed out to them I am not in the least surprised :D

And things are only going to go downhill from there. Hades, handcart, 'nuff said.:D

Well has anybody TRIED it?

Someone try it or have done so in the past and explicitly confirm or deny it either way. If nobody else can or will, I will do, but I need there to BE a base to target first.

I hadn't read the article before sending that assault team into their first one, and it just didn't last long enough to read it in the process of taking it down. Team blasted and blew their way straight to the synomium device, killing anything in their way, anything taken alive bar a lobbie navigator was hit with HE shells from gas cannon or HJC, or hit with a grenade, only other things taken alive were the commanders around the synomium device. Two of them anyway, the third was stunned with the rest then left to rot while the timed sonic pulser went off.Strategy on exit? run like hell. Squad weren't really equipped well for a base assault

Did have two troopers KO, dragged the first one back out, but the first one was in a WAY too large and heavily equipped crowd of lobstermen and a swarm of tentaculats, so the team just threw grenades and made sure the KO soldier was dead on the retreat. Couldn't do much else, was down to a few rounds left for anything

that would make a mark on that lot, even with the few remaining grenades.

Not sure what use hot chicks would be to apparently sterile races that reproduce via cloning. Most seem to be, or are so far from humanoid

that they don't even have compatible biology. Ever seen a girl get off with a giant jellyfish?

Second thoughts..don't answer that, I don't want to know:P And since those entertainment things are meant to work via psionic stimulation

then they fulfill the same purpose as the psiclone in apocalypse.who needa either dj or female when its downloded straight into the brain sort of like a super advanced version of TCMS?
