Hi,

I want to buy it, but negative comments prevent me from doing it.
I've heard it's built on the Unreal Tournament Lite engine, which has no vertical aiming. So what methinks, the game plays just like the Doom series.
Multiplayer usually solves negative things.

So what I actually want to know: How plays the game for you?

Let's put it this way: the mutons are naked.

It's more of an arcade game where all you do is go running about with your finger pressing down on the fire key and blasting away hundreds of aliens at a time, grabbing "power ups", blowing up alien transporters, grabbing civilians or perhaps killing the occasional boss. Oh, and you have to suffer listening to the voice of the professor who really should spend more time building another enforcer rather than making overly enthusiastic, corny and completely unnecessary exclamations while you're doing what you were built for.

It falls short in so many aspects that it feels incomplete in some way. If you've played games like Dues Ex or System Shock, then this is nowhere near that level of sophistication. It could have been done better. Despite the numerous complaints I'd like to make about it, I must admit, it can keep you amused for a while.

I'd recommend getting it just for fun. But if you want a seriously engaging game -- this is not for you.

If you have a choice, try grabbing Slave Zero, which was also published by Infogrames (back when they were still called Inforgrames, anyway). It should be in the bargain bins, along with Enforcer by now. It's a bit more polished and you can at least choose to pick up your old weapon if you ran over one you did not want. Also, it allows proper aiming with mouse-look. Very important, IMHO.

- NKF

P. S: Regarding mouse-look, if you get Enforcer: do not turn it on. The camera angle does not follow the aiming reticule. This makes it very difficult for precision aiming. Just let the auto-aiming do its work for you, and you'll be much happier.
Makes it an incredible chore to admire the landscape and look at the various signs though.

that game gives me a bad headache whenever i play it for more that 15 minutes, it's just too fast paced and hectic, it totally loses the atmosphere of X-com (except for appocalypse, since they decided to get rid of night missions :hmmm: and i'm not sure about interceptor, since i've never played it)

So... basicly... Enforcer is much like Alien Shooter but with a 3rd person camera.

Alien Shooter is a fun (and very crazy) game BTW... but fighting about 100 aliens at a time is hard!  :)

Hmm, so this is like Serious Sam ey? Well I like to play Serious Sam for 15min.. not longer, braindamage
Weird thing is, I do like playing Will Rock. It's the same as Serious Sam... but it's just cooler!

Guess I just have to buy this game. It's quite hard to find tho.

Well, I pulled the CD back out of the pile and fired it up, and it actually worked. It's a fun game, in its own genre.

Apoc: You CAN vertically aim, but, only when holding the right mouse button and pitching the mouse.

If you don't take the time to vertically aim, the game does it for you about half the time....

I dont mean this in a negative light, but my 6 year old nephew enjoys the game for the fun blast it is.

Myself, I found it perfectly playable and the level design and constant waves of enemies is surprisingly engaging.

I don't mean this in a negative light, but my ex-girlfriend enjoyed playing it. Hang on... that makes no sense

Nah, I also enjoyed it for what it is.

Found two copies of this yesterday.  Assuming they haven't been snapped up by other X-Com fans in the meantime, I'm off to buy one.
