I know how to edit the input.cfg, and I've used the console to spawn items and money in the past, but I've never spawned an enemy before. It would make the game a lot more challenging if I could add an extra 10 (or 20 or 30 ) enemy troops EDIT: After a lot of poking around and experimenting, I've figured out how to spawn a unit, and make them an enemy, but they still won't shoot back at me. Does anyone know what I'm missing? These are the commands I'm entering in the console: CreateWaypoint("wp1", GetHero ()) <--- This creates a waypoint where my hero is currently positioned. CreateUnit (500, 1, "enemy", "wp1", 5) <--- This creates a Renegade soldier, as an enemy, positioned at the waypoint I created, at level 5. I'd like to figure out how to make a small script for S3common.l to summon 5 or 6 enemy reinforcements with a simple console command (function sendReinforcements ... or something like that). A talented scripter would be able to make this into something special, but this definitely adds an extra challenge to a game that's already difficult. HOW TO SPAWN ENEMIES IN SILENT STORM (SENTINELS): 1) Add this line to input.cfg. I put it in the same place as the Save Game key binds: bind obj_under_cur 'X' <----- replace X with a key of your choosing 2) Open console, type summonunit 500 3) Move the mouse over the summoned unit, and press X. This unit is now a script variable with name 'ouc' (Object Under Cursor?). TokyoRose Posted March 15, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 15, 2013 Hey Zombie. The short answer to your question: Grab the unit with ouc. Now: UnitSetXPLevel(ouc,10). This will make the unit level 10. The long answer: The (ouc,1) tells the game that the unit you grabbed with the obj_under_cur (ouc) will be made to join your side (0), the enemy side (1), or neutral (2). I'm a total amateur at this, but yes, there is a way to spawn an enemy at a higher level, with this command: CreateUnit(500,1,"bob","wp99",9) The first number (500) is the unit ID, which I listed in the post above. The second number (1), says that it's an enemy (0 would make them join your side, and 2 is neutral). "bob" is the name I'm giving the unit, which could be used for other commands, I think. GetUnit("bob"), for example, although I don't know how that works. 9 is the unit's level. "wp99" -- this is tricky. This is the waypoint where the unit will appear. I don't know how to find the names of waypoints on an existing map. It would be nice to have the enemy spawn in a random location, but I don't know how. However, I do know how to create a new waypoint. Open the console and type: CreateWaypoint("wp99",GetHero()) This will create a waypoint ("wp99") where your hero is currently standing. Now, when you enter the CreateUnit command above, the enemy will be spawned at beside your hero. I think you can also create a waypoint like this: CreateWaypoint("wp777",ouc). This will create a waypoint with an object (like a door) that you've grabbed with ouc. I don't think you can grab a patch of grass or pavement with ouc -- it has to be something that can be highlighted with the cursor. I suppose you could highlight an enemy, grab him with ouc, and then use the enemy to set the waypoint and spawn enemies on top of the first enemy. Make sense? And now ... My preferred method to spawn enemies, until I learn how to do things properly, is this: 1) Spawn a unit using summonunit 2) When the unit spawns beside your squad, select the unit and teleport them somewhere else on the map. You can teleport by adding this line to your input.cfg: bind cheat_teleport 'X' 3) Once you've teleported them, use UnitSetPlayer(ouc,1) to make the unit an enemy and UnitSetNormalLogic(ouc) to give the unit a brain. You can then use UnitSetXPLevel(ouc,5) to set the unit to level 5, for example. 4) Note that if you teleport the unit to a place where the enemy can see them, the enemy will probably open fire. Try to find a point on the map that is unoccupied to teleport your new units. You can make the unit an enemy before teleporting ... but then I don't know how to teleport them. Obviously this is a clumsy way to spawn enemies, but if you've got quick fingers you can spawn in another 10 or 15 or 20 enemies in just a few minutes. This can be extremely interesting if you're trying to hold a house against endless waves of enemies I'm hoping someone like Komik or Novik will pipe in and tell me how to create a script in S3common so that I can summon a mixed squad of five or six enemies at a time with one simple console command.
