Supreme Ruler 1936

It's clever and it's back. The Supreme Ruler franchise is set to return to the spotlight with a special twist - of historical real-time strategy - in Supreme Ruler 1936, the latest in the timeline-hopping series of strategy games.

Throughout the development of our Supreme Ruler series, we saw a World War II title as the culmination of our grand vision", commented Lead Designer, David Thompson. "We've always endeavoured to make significant changes with each new title and this will be no exception. Supreme Ruler 1936 will immerse players in the historical era and feature a depth of play that will provide incredible challenge."

In Supreme Ruler 1936, players will be able to embark on the road to war in many different ways.

Economic, scientific, and diplomatic challenges will certainly influence the ability of their nation to impose its will on the world. Meanwhile military buildups and escalating tensions throughout the world continue, as some nations flex their military might seeking to expand their territories, while others pursue peaceful and isolationist policies in hopes of avoiding a second world war.

The features:

• Play Multiple Campaigns from either Axis or Allied perspective.

• Take Control of any Nation in the World in Sandbox Mode and see how you can impact the outcome of the era.

• Challenge yourself with many Historical Scenarios for a quicker and fast-paced gameplay experience.

• The butterfly effect... Influence the timeline and outcome of thousands of historical events.

• Use Diplomacy, Trade, Espionage, and Intimidation to influence the policies of other nations.

• Research new Technologies to give your nation a significant military advantage including the Race for the Atomic Bomb!

• Modernize your economy to become a world leader and support whatever social and military policies you choose.

• Manage as much or as little of your military forces and production as you like by setting your Defense Minister's level of control.

• When diplomacy fails... Sophisticated Real-Time Strategic and Tactical Control of your Military Forces.

• Battle your enemy and Mother Nature, as a fully integrated weather model influences the outcomes of the battlefield.

• Significant graphic improvements to 3D terrain and Graphic User Interface

• Up to 16 players in Multiplayer over local network or Internet

I doubt the market will every really dry up for RTS but we think we're offering the best compromise with "pausable real time". You can run the game as slow as you want so you can monitor the action.

Appreciate the thought, but, for the likes of me, there's a world of difference between "as slow as you want" and "turn based." Think of the difference between playing chess and playing pac-man. Its like that.

Well, I like the idea of real time being slow enough for thought. There are examples of games which already did it, like Sins of a Solar Empire and Star Ruler. These are not devolved into clickfest - at least in single player. It is rare though and usually I stick to turns.

@gunnergoz - You can also pause. Don't get me wrong, I recognize your preference. I'm a big chess player, played with dad and my grandfather since I was a kid, and I'm a huge fan of squad based turn based (X-Com TFTD). I'm also a big board game player, so I appreciate turn based. But I also like the equalizing factor of everything moving simultaneously. We actually had simultaneous turn based as an option for our first game, Supreme Ruler 2010, which just run one day, then waited for the player to "end turn". We then realized a player could do the same thing by pausing the game and abandoned that aspect.

Nonetheless, I hope you'll maybe watch a video or try a demo when we get that far and see if you like what we created.

Thanks,

Lead Designer and Co-Founder David Thompson says:

Kickstarter funding will allow us to add more historical scenarios, more campaign starting points, and much more game content. It will also allow us to launch a beta program and incorporate ideas, feedback and suggestions from our most important audience: our supporters.

Now on Kickstarter for the final push.
