He forgot to mention one thing during trade. Now trade is more expansive to start with. First you need to build that Civilian station + modules = costs. But later it's defending trade routes against pirates. While in Prime pirates were non-existent mostly, here are a nuisance beyond belief. Although their base chance is 5% + 2% without Naval Yard + 2% if Zuul are within 7 or 10 LY away their apperance is more frequent that you would think and mostly they will destroy the frigates. So you need invest money in naval yard + police cutters -1% per PC deployed. There are also Pirate bases that negate any defense I think and right now each turn they will destroy frigate in system they attack. Of course early on this makes so frustrating that going for early trade is just no no. Oh and the base is heavily defended.
