Here are some shots of human survivor troops (pre-cultists and cultists first encounter 'eras').

 

Survivors commander in retextured med armor:

Chest plate and leggins are decorated in green and red paint. There is another variant of this armor looking much like laputian medium armor. This armor is used only by commanders and is slightly better than ordinary medium armor.

Trooper with r700 is using retextured light armor (just a variant with the same properties). All troopers are either carrying backpack or not. This is also just a cosmetic improvement.

 

Female medics are now equiped with better weapons and light armor.

 

Providing survivors with such variety of advanced weapons made assaulting their territories quite difficult even for experienced and well equiped troopers :laugh:

New drone heavy weapons (can be used only by defender chassis):

 

Browning machinegun (.12 cal). Extremely long range for machinegun class. Fires 4 shots per burst.

Few notes:

- drone heavy weapons will be available for cyborgs but at a cost of lower accuracy, longer aiming times and shorter range. As advantage cyborgs will be able to reload their weaponry and use other equipement.

- survivors, cultists and militia will be equiped with better weaponry as game progresses (ending with gauss and warp weapons in the end of the game).

- mutants (not reticulans) wont be able to use firearms. They are beasts after all!

- cultists and militia are planned to use drones. Not sure if this is possible, but i`ll try it.

- militia is planned to include psionics and cyborgs (with cyborg-only weapons).

 

P.S.: almost forgot! All conventional firearms (and some energy) use new sound efects for shots.

I generally enjoy shotguns like the SPAS12 and USAS though...

No thanks. I don`t like Afterlight.

I wouldn't say I don't like AL, but Aftershock is my prefered among the 3.

I'd like an AS with the trashy mood of AM, the planes are missing too,

and with many cool tweak features from AL (exemple you can zoom and rotate the toons in the preparing inventary window).

I hope for a fourth AfterX one day.. (without Starforce & co). I can't bear the X-com/Extraterrestrial turn-by-turn now..

Here is a complete list of weapons that will be available in ACM UFO:

 

PISTOLS: desert eagle (.44 mag), usp (.45 acp), glock (9mm, adv), las pistol, gauss pistol.

SHOTGUNS: spas 12, UB shotgun, usas (adv), sonic gun.

SMG: (uzi (9mm), mac10 (.45 acp), mp5 (9mm), colt smg (9mm, all attachements), ump (.45 acp, adv).

ASSAULT RIFLES: m4 (5.56), hk33 (5.56), akm (7.62R), fn fal (7.62N), scar-l (5.56, adv), scar-h (7.62N, adv), laser rifle, plasma gun, gauss rifle, sonic rifle, warp rifle.

SNIPER RIFLES: r700 (5.56, 1 shot), svd (7.62R), sr-25 (7.62N), l96 (7.62N, adv), barret (.50bmg, prone-only, adv), laser sniper rifle, gauss sniper rifle.

MACHINEGUNS: m249 (5.56), m60 (7.62N), RPK (7.62R), PKP Pecheneg (7.62R, adv).

LAUNCHERS: UB grenage launcher (40mm), rpg (85mm), law (66mm), m202 (66mm, 4 shots, adv), m79 (40mm), rg6m (40mm, 6 shots, adv), plasma launcher, UB plasma launcher.

CYBORG and DRONE HEAVY WEAPONS: browning h2 mg (.50bmg), minigun (5.56), gauss minigun (6mm), gatling laser, plasma hypergun, warp huge thingy.

 

NORMAL DRONE WEAPONS: m249 (1 slot), m60 (2 slots), AGL (2 slots, 20 grenades, 2-shot burst), m202d (2 slots, 6 rockets), laser cannon (1 slot), plasma cannon (2 slots), sonic cannon (1 slot), warp cannon (2 slots), gauss cannon (1 slot). All cannons are slightly improved rifle versions of the same weapon. AGL is an auto-fire 40mm grenade launcher.

 

MELEE WEAPONS: without change (yet). chain sword (hard damage), power sword (laser damage), powerfist (plasma damage, haven`t decided yet).

 

Original drone weapons, plasma shotgun, sonic sniper gun and warp huge thingy were removed.

 

 

I`ve also planned some advanced melee weapons such as chainsword (hard damage), power sword (laser damage) and power fist (plasma damage). I`ll see if these weapons are worth spending time.

I finaly was able to spot human commander in var.2 medium armor. All i need now is to hunt down cultist commander to show you :laugh:

Does anybody know how to work with UFO AS animated models? I`m trying to fix a drone problem that occurs with my mod - drones are retracting their weapons from the hull and my new weapons are just too large to fit inside the drone :D What i need is to fix position of drone 'arm' in deployed stance.

I already use this one, but it doesn`t seem to be able to work with animation.

 

BTW, is there a way to import AS models into any normal editor rather than Milkshape? It imports only AM models and ignores AS ones.

I doubt that they will bother creating an exporter for AS :laugh:

 

Here are some shots of new pistols and machineguns.

 

Glock-18. Light 9mm pistol. Better used in burst mode (5 shots!).

USP. This .45 Acp pistol can be equiped with all muzzle attachements and a tac laser. It has better range, accuracy and damage than glock.

RPK. Light machinegun. Has bad accuracy and short range, but high damage. The only MG capable of single fire (not sure if this is really needed). RPK is the main MG of Cultists.

If no melee weapons, you will angry comandos.

Melee weapons are cool in Afterlight; and in the end you can use light saber jedi style (I like rushing on matriarchs and kill them in one or two swings).

sound effects for saw and ligh saber from UFO AL?

These lie in the gamedata.vfs file in the 'UFO Afterlight' folder.

Using the VFS View tool, they are Wave files in Root\sound\tool.

These interesting sounds are buzzsaw2, katana_svih1, kulbleskzasahcile, newplasmomet1, noz_svih1 and svetelnymec3. You would find what needed in these, I don't think there are others wanted.

I will try to send you them (I never sent anything trough a forum).

And, is that legal??

Cultists now use drones with various weapons (from m249 to warp cannons depending on phase).

Cyborgs, psionics and militia now use new sets of weapons. Psionics are mainly using salvaged reticulan weapons, projectors and small sidearms. Cyborgs are more dangerous because of variety of heavy weapons and drones (!).

Militia was reworked. It now uses all available weapons starting from basic firearms and ending with gauss and warp weapons.

Made some preliminary textures for new laputian armors (using so-called Wargotium alloys). These are bright and colorful armors which provide its user a 5-10% bonus to all protections. I`m also considering an idea of chemical-enchancer armors based on cultist suits. These are planned to give less protection than normal suits. The main advantage of these suits is usage of various stimulants as attachments providing its wearer some bonuses (much like cyborg implants).

 

P.S.: finaly found a better utility to compress images without quality loss :laugh:

It looks awasome! I hope it will come out soon. AS has gained the position of my favorite in the series, and this mod gives it additional spice! :laugh:

 

 

If everything will be OK i`ll release it after 21-22 of March. Currently everything seems to be OK :D

Chainsword is a one handed weapon. It does HARD damage. Not as deadly as katana, but iits advantages make it a great melee weapon nevertheless.
