Well i played it for about an hour, handling the game is a bit uncomfortable, especially the drag and drop of people inside the base, the whole graphics look smoother and more dense than in AS. i feel bombarded by popup windows and some of the messages my ppl give tend to get on my nerves quick.

The maps is have seen so far look interresting, although they where very small i hope they do get bigger in later stages. Overall the game makes a better impression than i expected, however handling seems to be unpractical and improveable.

Thorondor, I hope you'll review the game for SC after the release! Just don't write everything you know about Afterlight or it may turn into a novel... wink.gif

I shortly started the demo this morning. And I can say this....
So 10 days is all you get to terraform Mars and save the future of the humankind?

So is there a little contest to make the time pass until the release of the retail version. How far can you get in 10 days?

@Thorondor....Go for the long review. This will teach us puny humans not to mess with omniscient/all-knowing creatures.

Just finished playing it for about 30 minutes. Nice graphics, but talk about info overload! I hope the manual explains some of the screens. It appears that we may be required to set up mines in various areas to obtain the necessary raw materials. A needless complication in my opinion. Overall, the base management seems way too complicated. Gave me a headache trying to figure things out. Also, some very annoying commentary by NPCs. But my biggest concern is still the dumb AI. I had hoped that any improvements in the game would come from improving the enemy AI, but so far, that doesn't seem the case. Oh well, it is early in the demo so maybe it gets better.

My impressions at this very early point are that the Devs added a lot of complication and micromanagement to the base screens, while leaving combat as simplistic and silly as in the previous games.

as for Thorondor's review: Make two

Gak, four hundred megs is a little too much for me. I eagerly await that incredibly detailed and in-depth review. tongue.gif

On a related note, do you know when AL itself will be released, Thorondor?

Played the demo for the whole ten days, well I must say that UFO:AL is the best game (for me) since the first xcom.
