Long story short, I recently decided to accuire the new 'windows' version of XC2. I quickly found out that the old DOS editors don't work on the new windows versions...are there any editors out that allow you to change the weapon, armor, ship, and alien stats? I prefer to have gauss weapons that don't use clips, etc...

Most of thease are not stored in the EXE and you can use the same editors as before.

True, but of all the editors I have tried only about 3 actually work for the CE version of TFTD. And of those three, 2 are very moody and work only occasionally.
Weapon stats reside in obpos.dat which is a non-exe file. But alien stats, ship info and armor ratings are found in the executable. I'm afraid there isn't really much out there for editing the exe. The locations for alien stats as well as armor are known, so editing them yourself is rather easy if you know what you are doing. On the other hand, a nice interface would be preferred by many. Too bad such an animal doesn't exist... yet. - Zombie -------------------- QUOTE(JellyfishGreen) Zombie: Empirical data's your only man, when formulating a research plan. A soldier's death is never in vain if it makes the formula more plain. A few dozen make a better case for refining that third decimal place. They call me Zombie because I don't sleep, as I slowly struggle to climb this heap, of corpses, data points, and trials, but from the top - I'll see for miles! |
