Well, I finally found a copy of Aftershock, after scouring a large number of local game stores. A local EB World had ONE (!) copy. Of course, they had about forty copies of "Quake 4" and "Shiny Plastic First Person Shooter 44 Volume 3".
So, no problems with star force. It's kind of annoying that you can't get the dudes in the cutscenes to quit yapping. First mission: My squad goes for an abandoned factory complex, we get ambushed by a bunch of morelmen, brainmen and flatsters. Poor "Eddie" or whatever the guy's name was got eaten. Sigh... Ok, so here's a question: Why are the default uniforms rainbow-colored? Is it only the tie-dye hippies that made it onto the Laputa? Or is it my graphics card? So far, I must say I'm very impressed with the game. I actually saw a heavily-wounded guy try to run away when my guys gunned most of his buddies down, also it's pretty cool that unconscious guys will get back up occasionally. Also, I like the fact that you can replace guys that you lose fairly easily. So far I haven't gotten a chance to use any serious tactics yet, but I'm sure that'll change. |

QUOTE Ok, so here's a question: Why are the default uniforms rainbow-colored? Is it only the tie-dye hippies that made it onto the Laputa? Or is it my graphics card? Hehe, this is a problem that occurred in the 1.1 patch. Not sure why it happens to some, but probably driver / card related. Disappears with armour (and a possible new patch). Anyway, enjoy the game, and keep us posted -------------------- |

ESC works for me (no, I still don't have the full version).
I've got the rainbow colored soldiers, too. Which graphics card and driver do you have? It's most likely a driver thingy, you should notify ATi or nVidia (depends on which graphics card you have), and give them a detailed explanation of what is the problem. So description, screenshots, your system specs etc. Then maybe you'll see it corrected in the next driver update. You could try updating your graphic drivers (if they're not already), or you could try rolling back to one of the previous versions. |

Yeah, ESC did the trick for getting dudes to stop yapping.
So far, I've managed to assault and take over a cultist base, that was pretty fun. Unfortunately, half of the loot was sniper rifles, which my guys can't really use, since they don't have sniper training. Has anyone been able to use the 'psionic poison projector' to any decent effect? On an unrelated note, when trying to raid a cyborg territory, man they really whooped my ass good. Started out fine, shot a few guys, then this one dude comes out with an M60 or something, and guns down my whole squad. So, that'll be the last time I try to take over a new base in cyborg territory... Also, another fun story, I had a 'rescue the human' mission. Well, the human I was to 'rescue' had a ROCKET LAUNCHER. I wonder if it would have been worth the mission failure penalty to let him get killed and grab his RL? Oh well, that thing packs a punch. I got a bunch of brainmen and whatnot bottled up in a doorway, then BAM with the rocket. My computer started choking 'cause of all the rag doll physics. going on. So yeah, one might say I'm pretty ecstatic with this game. Even though I've visited a couple of the same facilities so far, the ability to choose different landing zones and the pretty decent AI make it so that it's not all that repetitive. Additionally, the visuals are totally awesome. I'm not talking about character models (not that I don't like rainbow-tie-dye-shirt-wearing hippies), but the actual battlegrounds. Obviously, the Altar guys really put a lot of time into making those. Plus, finally, NPCs that can help out (and actually kill badguys, too). |

Did you install that Greatful Dead/Phish Mod? That might be where all the tie-die is coming into play. I heard that mod also has a pacifist trooper who can sneak behind enemy lines and spark up some ganja before handing out flowers. Not sure how well that tactic would work since I prefer to shoot everyone until they die from lead poisoning.
If you want the weapons the escorted human has just render them unconscious and take them before you heal them. A down and dirty way to get some nice things early in the game. |

Try not to raid any bases that your allies own.. Cyborgs, humans, etc... If you piss them off now then you can't use there help when you get in a bind and need more troops or resources... just leave them be and eventully they'll ask for help, or you can chick on the province and hit the "mission" button every once ina while to see if it gives you a differant mission then to just go in shooting.. It takes longer but you don't end up pissing them off..

Yeah, I can actually get much more resources just by asking the friendly faction for resources, rather than raiding their territory.
