Hi,Folks

The game start's out good with music and sound,it allows me to setup my base and then I shoot down one of those critters (UFO'S) Then the game takes me to arm my men and it crashes....I get a note saying Stack Overflow change your config. and try again!

OS: Pentium 4 1.60 / HD: 20 GB/ RAM 96/Video Mem 30
Win98 2nd edition
Sound & Music setup: Blaster=A240 I5 D3 T4 P300
Midi setup: 300

What can I do to overcome this problem ?

If this is a Fresh install you probably dont have the a config.sys
this is what I have on my 98box

Config.sys

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE I=B000-B7FF RAM 3072 D=64
DOS=HIGH
DOS=UMB
FILES=60
BUFFERS=60
LASTDRIVE=g
shell=c:\windows\command.com /e:32768 /p

------------
The second line is what really does the work. it gives a masive amount of conventional memory

IF ANY ONE ESLE USES THIS: IF you have less than 64 megs of memory this will cause an warning on starup.
The shell comand probably is not nesasary but I have problems with enviroment space with out it causing dos to not load command.com when I exit x-com :dontgetit:

Combat is very simple, there is a first place and second place, second place is laying face down in the mud, sometimes, so is first place.

Hey,

I've, tried your setup I get the following in both games (Xcom1 & Xcom 2)
The games go well (sound & Music) Till Im taken to the screen where you
arm your troops,I get a Blue screen of death momentarily then I see the
Out of Scan Range notice! nothing happens then when I touch a key (any)
on the keyboard, Im taken to the arming of my troops sceen ( With No music or Sound ) then into combat...Funny,though,after I finished, Im taken
to the Void of Blackness, when my computer reboots, Thus Iam out of the game...Any Ideas???

Question: How does one overcome a Stack overflow error ?

Thanks again Blade Firelight for the setup,its been useful for other programs...
