I'm a newbie to the X-Com games but my friend Lonestar introduced me to them. But that is beside the point, I have a problem my music won't work on my X-Com UFO Defense, yet it works on Terror from the Deep. I have windows 98 on a pentium 3 processor, I use the collector's edition.

If your circumstance is the same as mine, your music is working fine. The volume, for some reason, is set so low that it's just about impossible to hear. I'm not sure how to fix this though. Unless there's a way to lower the volume to the sound, then you could just turn up your speakers. smile.gif

Yes, the volume control is the first thing you should check. Check the synthesiser or midi volume.

Or you might have the same problem as I have. Try running the game, quitting and then run the game again. That's how I get the music to work in my copy.

If you still cannot get the music running, try opening and running the music files in the sound directory with windows media player. If they play, then there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to play in the game.

If the game persists in not playing the music, just load the midi files into a music player like Winamp or Windows media player and play them in the background while you're playing the game. It won't play the right music on cue, but you do get full control over what you want to hear. smile.gif
