A new and impressive-looking fan made game is in the works, based on the format of the original X-COM games. It's called UFO: Alien Invasion, and whilst they're keeping well away from X-COM material, the screenshots look very nice indeed!

It's been under construction for the past year, and the guys hope to have a demo available sometime in February where you'll be able to play on three of the maps.

Head on over to their website at ufo.myexp.de and take a look for yourselves.

Many thanks to SparX for the news and for keeping the turn-based dream alive!

Yep, this game looks kickass, and I advise everyone to take a peek at their website.

This stuff is what causes drooling!

Thx for the advertisment. The demo is nearly finished, but we want to test it properly before the release. Only a few tiny bugs left... they will be eliminated soon!

This game looks great! (at least from what I've seen on the screens)

It's amazing, what could be done with that ol' Quake engine. The models, textures and overall map design look fine. I have a feeling, that you guys have a lot of experience behind you, the game looks professionally made - not the quality of every fan made project. I haven't yet seen the game, so don't know exactly what the gameplay is, but the game has the potential to be on the even plane with the Great X-COM!

So, guys, Good Luck in your endeavours.

Yeah, this is not our fist project. We made first-person-shooter-mods before.
This is also the reason why UFO - AI is based on Quake2 engine.

I just read the info on it and this sure as heck looks good! If this game works on my crappy laptop, I'll get this game for sure! Hope to try out the demo soon and the full thing sooner! Good luck with everything! Take Care and Peace!

Very sweet!!

Too bad it'll take me a year to be anywhere near experienced enough to take on a Mac OS X port - but I'll keep it in mind.

I think you should give them at least a year to finish the game anyway, so I wouldn't worry wink.gif
