Okay, so I know I'm not known as an avid X-com player (actually I've failed to finish the game even once) but I still think that I should be able to play whenever I like... which I can't. In the past, I was able to play x-com normally, but lately, after the last reinstall, I've got this weird bug that scrambles everything on the screen in lines, making it all unreadable. I can't even get around the interface in order to exit the game. I've recently downloaded TFTD, but it seems to give me the same error as well.

I use Windows XP with SP 2 and a vista-lookalike pack, but so far it seems that none have anything to do with the bug. Oh, yeah, the games are in those free versions downloaded from the Internet, but as I said, it worked well in the beggining and I see no reason why it shouldn't now.

Please aid me in my quest for decent gaming. thankee

Is it the CE? (Collectors Edition, Windows)

Check this topic for instance. You can't download it from FilePlanet any longer, but there are a few sites selling it. Regardless, you need f0dders patch or to disable hardware acceleration.
