Welcome Mr. President. I'm a president too, I even have my own country called Myroom. It's a small country with the current population at 1, although we get occasional season workers called "parents" and tourists called "friends". The national currency is Monopoly money. I should warn you however, that you should not try to invade, or you will have to deal with our Elite Ninja Squad.
Pleasantries aside, our ministry of X-COM has received your request and is providing a possible solution: http://www.xcomufo.com/x1faq.html |

I have a different problem. I have the Collector's Edition of X-Com, and I recently attempted to install it on my laptop, which has Fedora Core 8 on it. I also have wine, so I can play windows based games. Everything is fairly normal, until I go to type in a name for my base. Then I can't type anything in. I would like to try some other emulator, but I am not sure it will do anything. I was wondering if any has similar problems, and solutions.

That unfortunately happens to some players depending on their computer set-up. Unfortunately there's no universal remedy (well, the closest to a universal remedy on the PC is to get Dosbox - not sure what options are out there for other operating systems ).
Have you tried a combination of plugging in different keyboards (USB or PS/2), using the laptop's keyboard or disabling any keyboard handling software that's running in the background? - NKF -------------------- Current Avatar Source: A custom GM-Striker. I'll try a different keyboard when I get a new one. Or else get a new laptop. the laptop I am using is a HP Omnibook 6000. Or just slap it on my desktop, and play it that way.
BTW, NKF, thanks for the help. -------------------- When all else fails, CHEAT!!!
