The folks at Chaos Concept have graced us with another 3 screens from UFO: Extraterrestrials. The most notable is one featuring a detailed look at a ship called The Nightwolf, which sounds like the title of a Ronnie James Dio album. Now if we could only get a demo out of them instead of more screenshots....

Sorry, Praetoris. We can only report what they give us, and at this stage of the game it is only screenshots.
Speaking of screenshots, the UFO: ET team released this one today: Sweet! - Zombie -------------------- QUOTE(JellyfishGreen) Zombie: Empirical data's your only man, when formulating a research plan. A soldier's death is never in vain if it makes the formula more plain. A few dozen make a better case for refining that third decimal place. They call me Zombie because I don't sleep, as I slowly struggle to climb this heap, of corpses, data points, and trials, but from the top - I'll see for miles! |

Here's the latest from the UFO: Extraterrestrials website.
Remember in Enemy Unknown how hunting for the last alien on a mission could be troublesome? That alien usually would never move, thus forcing you to search the entire battlescape again for the lone holdout. (I attribute this to a massive morale loss). Well, the UFO: ET team came up with a rather creative solution: the last one or two aliens would go into a "Kamikaze mode". I would guess this means the alien(s) would actually move to engage your troops instead of being "frozen" to a spot on the map. A suicide mission if you must. This has some important implications on your game plan. Instead of using the same type of strategy, you must change tactics near the end of the mission for the inevitable mad rush of the aliens which are left. Of course, if you know what is going to happen, you can prepare for it too. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting fix to this age-old problem. You can read more about it here. - Zombie -------------------- QUOTE(JellyfishGreen) Zombie: Empirical data's your only man, when formulating a research plan. Hehe, it's an...interesting solution. I think I prefer having the missions laid out so that you don't have to kill every alien, but it will be fun to see how this plays out.

Aliens surrendering would have been nice, too.

What happened to the Summer 2006 release? It even still states the summer 2006 release date on the website. I hope they get all the bugs out soon. I really want to play this game!

I doubt the Summer 2006 release will happen. It still sounds like there is plenty of work just fixing all the bugs. One of the problems for the ET team seems to be estimating what is left to do. Past delays have alienated some fans so let's hope the next release date is concrete, not floating. Crying "wolf" is questionable PR.
