I'm probably missing something obvious but I can't attack cult provinces.

I fly the Laputa over them, click on the province & the mission button lights up blue but when I click on the button nothing happens. No mission, nothing. Do I need to research something?

Don't fret. You may not be able to do so right away, but you will eventually be able to fight them. You'll surely be able to do so once the alien spaceship arrives. I'm just a little beyond this point and am currently turning the earth into one giant connected college... uh, just mopping up the uncaptured provinces while fending off cultists.

Here's a thought, have you got an adjacent province or do you own a province with a sea route that goes to one of the cult owned provinces? Move up to one and explore. If nothing happens, move up to another connected province. Just keep at it.

I think there's a special mission in one of the cult owned provinces, so unless the location of this mission is randomly selected, you probably wouldn't be able to attack it until you've done some necessary research.

Yea, I've got a couple of provinces bordering theirs. I did see a post on another thread that implied that you get a research option, called cultist danger or something, after they first attack one of your provinces.

Anyone able to confirm this?

Can't remember for sure about the research, but when you click the mission button it will take some time until a mission becomes available. Your forces will explore the area for some time first, and then it is made available.

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I need to explore the cult provinces in the usual way before I can generate missions. I thought it might be something obvious, I'll try it - thanks.

I can confirm that you will be able to research the cultist danger shortly after you first intervene in a cultist attack on a province held by you or the other three human factions. In the short term, research on the nature of the cultists is not as important as researching better weapons and armour, but it is eventually going to be necessary to open up research you will need to conduct to progress in the game.

The cultists tend to be better armed than you when you first meet them. They have sniper rifles, armour piercing ammunition and various rifle enhancements.

One important word of warning: Don't take all the Cultist base provinces, no matter how annoying they are. You will need the Cultists to retain at least one base province for a vital plotline mission to appear in the game. Owing to a bug in the game, the mission will not appear if the Cultists lose all their bases, so you will be unable to progress.

Ha! Yep, I just needed to 'explore' the provinces first as with non-cult provs'.

Troll, yea I've already had a few run-ins with them. Much tougher than the Reticulans & muties. Knew about the last cultist base too - Ive browsed these forums quite a bit last few days.

Thanks for your help.
